Fox Moves to Revive Tim Allen Comedy Series ‘Last Man Standing’

The Tim Allen-fronted blue-collar comedy Last Man Standing may make Fox Broadcasting Co. its new network home after ABC abruptly canceled the successful series last year.

The possible series revival was first reported by Deadline:

I hear star and executive producer Allen has closed a deal to return. 20th TV is currently in conversations with other cast members as well as members of the series’ creative team, including producers, to come back. Two of the key Last Man Standing series regulars, Nancy Travis and Hector Elizondo, are tied to other multi-camera comedies at the moment. Travis stars in the upcoming Netflix comedy series The Kominsky Method while Elizondo is a lead of the pilot Guess Who Died, which is in contention at NBC.

Insiders caution there are still many deals to close and the show’s return is by no means a sure thing but there are promising signs that a seventh season is possible. Fox and 20th TV declined comment.

Allen took to Twitter on Thursday to praise those who raised their voices in protest after the highly-rated comedy wasn’t renewed for a seventh season by ABC.

“They heard all your voices people!! LMS just might be a reality. Keep it up. Who wants more #LastManStanding?” Allen tweeted.
Indeed, Last Man Standing was ABC’s second-highest-rated comedy behind Modern Family, averaging, in its sixth season, 6.41 million live viewers.

Allen played patriarch conservative Mike Baxter, the father of three girls and a sporting goods store marketing executive.

ABC canceled the series last May — a boycott and backlash quickly followed— after six successful seasons, in which it was nominated for two Primetime Emmys. The cancellation inspired a viral Change.org petition, which has collected more than 430,000 signatures.

In May, ABC Entertainment President Channing Dungey defended her decision to cancel the show, citing business and scheduling conflicts. ABC later said Allen’s conservative political views were not part of the decision.

Allen, for his part, asserted that ABC — the current home of ratings juggernaut Roseanne, a much-beloved sitcom about a Trump-supporting blue-collar matriarch and her family — was threatened by having a funny successful show starring a conservative character.

“But there is nothing more dangerous, especially in this climate, than a funny, likable conservative character,” the actor added. “He is mitigated on the show by a family of women who had a difference of opinions, but [Mike Baxter] was a likable guy and a principled guy about work and ethics and all this stuff, I think.”

ABC placed the fantasy drama Once Upon a Time in the Friday time slot that Last Man Standing once dominated. Once Upon a Time was never able to draw nearly as many viewers as its time slot predecessor and will end after seven seasons.

While speculation swirled for months over reports that 20th Century Fox and later CMT would become the show’s new network home, it appears that Allen has helped close the deal.

Here’s a bizarre story out of Indiana that caught my eye because it’s-well, bizarre!

So, Dwight Shotts, 42, was arrested on Monday after telling a 911 operator that he was having a “rough” day because the dead body in his bathtub now “stinks.”
What in the hell?

WTXF reported that he allegedly called the police to admit to the murder of 35-year-old Anthony Cline.

According to court documents cited in the report, Shotts called 911 and told the operator that he was having “a rough one.” The reason he gave? “There’s a guy dead in my house.”

Below is an excerpt from the 911 call listed in the document:

Dispatch: What’s going on today?

Shotts: Well, this is a rough one. I don’t know how I’m gonna explain it. There’s a guy dead in my house.

Dispatch: Ok, what happened? Did you guys get in an altercation? Or what happened, did you find him like that?

Shotts: No, it was an altercation. It’s been a while back and I didn’t know what to do. I panicked, put him in the tub, and now he’s been in the tub, and now he stinks. I don’t know what to do.

Dispatch: Ok, how long has he been in there?

Shotts: A week.

Dispatch: Ok, and what happened, did you shoot him?

Shotts: Yes.

The dispatcher noted Shotts was crying on the phone and reported he was suicidal.

Once in custody, Shotts told investigators that he’d met with Cline to buy $500 worth of oxycodone, but changed his story to say that a shooter killed Cline because of “monies owed.” Fearing for his own life, he said, he hadn’t called police on the day of the murder, WTXF reported.

He has since been charged with Cline’s murder.

Facebook has enlisted a team from law firm Covington and Burling to advise them on combating perceptions of bias against conservatives. One minor detail: Covington and Burling is the firm of Barack Obama’s left-wing former attorney general, Eric Holder, Breitbart reports.

Why it matters: The efforts are happening in response to allegations that the tech giant censors conservative voices and discriminates against minority groups. Facebook hopes the independent audit and formal advising partnership will show it takes these issues very seriously.

So, to sum up: Facebook, a California-based company, has enlisted the same firm that is providing legal advice to their state against the Trump administration, through none other than Eric Holder, to advise them on combating perceptions of bias against conservatives.

Eric Holder, possibly the most corrupt Attorney General in the history of the United States of America. Ok ladies and gentleman it is time to revisit the crimes and ideological inequities of our Attorney General, Eric Holder, a man who cannot force himself to say Islamic Terrorist.
When Holder served as Deputy Attorney General for the Clinton administration, it was he who engineered, under President Clinton’s direction, the controversial grant of clemency that freed members of the FLAN and Los Macheteros. They were Puerto Rican nationalist groups who wanted the U.S. out of Puerto Rico and had turned to terrorism in order to try and accomplish that end. He took that action over the strong objections of many career officers in the Department Of Justice. Not the first time or the last time Holder has ignored or dismissed objections from professional career officers in the DOJ for his own or his masters political/ideological reasons. The sixteen members of the FLAN and Los Macheteros were serving time after a trial in New York City for bank robbery, possession of explosives, six murders, armed robberies, participating in a seditious conspiracy and hundreds of injuries to innocent people, they had been found guilty and were put in prison.

Holder also was busted during the infamous Marc Rich pardon. Marc Rich was an international fugitive who had duped our government out of loads of cash. President Clinton had pardoned this fugitive on the recommendation of Holder his Deputy Attorney General and for Clinton’s own corrupt reasons. At that time Rich was on the FBI’s 10 most wanted list, accused of racketeering, defrauding the United States Treasury out of tens of millions of dollars and trading with our national enemies.

Almost immediately after Obama took office, Holder convinced the President to announce the closure of the military prison at Guantanamo Bay.

The long list of corruption between Holder, Obama and the Clinton’s is well established and that isn’t even mentioning the Fast and Furious illegal activities.

How these criminals can continue to walk free and continue to fleece America and get rich, is beyond me.

Three people were arrested Tuesday for burning an American flag during a May Day protest in an uptown park in Charlotte, North Carolina, police said, Breitbart reports.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police said 15 protesters were participating in the event Tuesday evening when three in the group pulled out a flag, poured “ignitable liquid” on it and set it on fire about 6:20 p.m.

Charlotte Fire and CMPD arson detectives responded, leading to the arrest of Landon Rice, 23, VanaMary Isaac, 26, and Dhruv Pathak, 24, officials said, Charlotte Observer reports.
Law Enforcement stated that burning the National Flag is not a crime according to the supreme court, but lighting a fire in the Park is illegal, so they arrested the 3.

Officers allowed the demonstrators to gather and march to the intersection of College and Trade. Police said that when the group reached the 100 block of North College Street, three of the protesters set fire to an American flag. Detectives with Charlotte Fire responded to the scene to conduct an investigation.

Following the incident, Landon Rice, 23, VanaMary Isaac, 26, and Dhruv Pathak, 24, were charged with injury to real property and carelessness with fire.

As long established, the act of burning a flag on its own is not considered an illegal act in the U.S. since it is protected free speech under the First Amendment, according to LawDictionary.com, but starting a fire without a permit in a public place can be illegal.
That’s what led to the arrests of Landon Rice, 23, VanaMary Isaac, 26, and Dhruv Pathak, 24. They were charged with carelessness with fire and injury to real property, the Charlotte Observer reported.
It wasn’t the first time Rice and Pathak have been arrested during protests in Charlotte.

Landon Rice has a history with protesting and breaking the law:

North Carolina court records show Rice, who lives in Charlotte, was found guilty in the past of simple assault and driving while intoxicated. She has also been charged with resisting arrest (charge later dismissed) and impeding traffic. She pleaded guilty to the latter charge and sought prayer for judgment, meaning the court did not enter a final judgment of conviction in the case.

Charlotte TV station WCNC reported the resisting arrest and impeding traffic charges were filed during protests that erupted in the city after a district attorney decided not to press charges against the police officer who shot Keith Lamont Scott during an incident in an apartment community parking lot.

Records show Dhruv Pathak of Charlotte has been charged in the past with impeding traffic, resisting arrest, second degree trespass, disorderly conduct and assault on a government official. All were dismissed except the charge of impeding traffic. He pleaded guilty in that case and sought a prayer for judgment.“The Trump administration has made very clear that they’ve declared war on the immigrant community on all levels,” said Javier Valdes, co-executive director of the advocacy group Make the Road New York.
Angelica Salas, executive director of the Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights in Los Angeles, said that once the rallies were over, immigrants would join other fringe groups such as the LGBTQ, African-American and women’s organizations to push for the election of new leaders.
