SAN DIEGO – Phillip Junior Web, a high school senior at Castle Park High School, was charged in federal court today with conspiracy to distribute controlled substances and bringing in unlawful aliens, including a Mexican national and Chinese national, for financial gain. He was arraigned this afternoon before U.S. Magistrate Judge Bernard G. Skomal.

According to the court documents, the defendant was a high school senior who recruited other high school students to smuggle methamphetamine and fentanyl into the United States on multiple occasions, including on July 1, 2017 (juvenile attempted to smuggle methamphetamine), September 19, 2017 (two juveniles attempted to smuggle methamphetamine), September 27, 2017 (juvenile attempted to smuggle methamphetamine), and October 23, 2017 (juvenile attempted to smuggle fentanyl).

On each of these occasions, the juveniles had drugs strapped on their bodies as they attempted to enter the United States at the San Ysidro or Otay Mesa Ports of Entry.
Last Friday, defendant Webb was caught attempting to bring in a Chinese national and Mexican national into the United States in the trunk of his vehicle. The defendant’s next court appearance is on May 10, 2018 for a detention hearing and May 21, 2018 for a preliminary examination before Judge Skomal.

In an unrelated criminal complaint, defendant Alejandro Barba was charged with conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine. According to the complaint, agents saw a juvenile briefly enter Barba’s parked vehicle at the San Ysidro High School parking lot, remove items from his backpack, and then exit Barba’s vehicle. Barba, the sole occupant and driver, was stopped and agents found five kilograms of methamphetamine in his back seat. According to the complaint, the unnamed juvenile had smuggled the methamphetamine through the border earlier that day. Barba will appear for his initial appearance later this week.

“We are seeing a very troubling trend and we want to warn parents and high schoolers,” said U.S. Attorney Adam L. Braverman. “Our youth are being recruited by drug cartels to smuggle dangerous drugs across the border. We are going after the recruiters who exploit these kids, but the kids also need to know that they are gambling with their lives when they do this. Don’t throw away your future.”

Kirkuk,IRAQ – An Iraqi chieftain and one of his sons were killed in a dual bomb attack in Kirkuk governorate, a security source was quoted as saying, Iraqi News reports.

Speaking to Shafaq News, the source said, “Two explosive charges placed on the side of a road in al-Maslakha village, south of Hawija, went off, leaving a chieftain and his son killed and three others injured.”
“Ambulances carried the bodies to the forensic medicine department, while the injured were moved to a nearby hospital for treatment,” according to the source.

Meanwhile, two people were killed and injured as an explosive, from the remnants of war against Islamic State, went off, west of Mosul, a security source was quoted saying on Sunday.

Speaking to Alghad Press, the source said, “a bomb, from the remnants of Islamic State war, exploded while an ambulance was passing in Badush, west of Mosul.”

“A medic was killed, while the ambulance driver was seriously wounded,” the source said, adding that “lots of explosives were still there in the region.”

Kirkuk officials previously employed reinforcing military troops in the south and west of the province, as the region still has Islamic State members who escaped during liberation of Hawija to remote areas.

Violence in the country has surged further with the emergence of Islamic State extremist militants who proclaimed an “Islamic Caliphate” in Iraq and Syria in 2014.

The surge in violence between armed groups and government forces has resulted in over five million internally displaced persons across Iraq and left more than 11 million in need of humanitarian assistance, according to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs.

Iraq declared the collapse of Islamic State’s territorial influence earlier in November with the recapture of Rawa, a city on Anbar’s western borders with Syria, which was the group’s last bastion in Iraq.

GOD BLESS.

Recreating My Mother’s Last Day | Op-Docs

In 2002, my father made a video of my mother on the last day of her life. The footage was erased before I had a chance to watch it, and so it turned into an imagined memory, a deep longing for something I had never seen.

The football world has lost one of its mainstays in the coaching ranks, The NFL has reported.

Former Rams, Seahawks and Bills head coach Chuck Knox has died at 86. The Seahawks confirmed Knox’s passing on Sunday.

“The Seahawks family is saddened by the loss of Chuck Knox, and our deepest sympathies are extended to his wife, Shirley, and the entire Knox family,” the team said in a statement. “A member of the Seahawks Ring of Honor, Knox coached the Seahawks from 1983-1991 and was a beloved figurehead by players, coaches and staff. His presence projected an external toughness, but merited instantaneous respect by the genuine care and concern he held for his players. He was one of the great influencers not only in football, but in life.

“One of the winningest coaches in NFL history, ‘Ground Chuck’ was twice named NFL Coach of the Year while with the Seahawks in 1983 and 1984. He led Seattle to their first division title, playoff win and conference championship appearance and was the first coach in NFL history to lead three different teams to the NFL playoffs. As Knox said himself, ‘What you do speaks so well, no need to hear what you say.’”
Knox coached the Seattle Seahawks from 1983-1991, leading them to winning records in six of nine seasons. Knox’s Seahawks got off to a hot start, winning nine games and reaching the AFC Championship Game in the coach’s first season at the helm, and won 12 games the following season before a Divisional Round exit.

Seattle posted a 3-4 playoff mark during his tenure. The coach who finished with an 80-69 record in Seattle was inducted into the franchise’s Ring of Honor in 2005.
The coach also led the Los Angeles Rams in two different stints, from 1973-1977 and 1992-1994, compiling a 69-48 record combined between those two spans. Knox posted five straight seasons with double-digit wins in his first stint before leaving for Buffalo in 1978, where he coached the Bills through 1982. Knox returned to a much different Rams franchise in 1992, failing to win more than six games in a season before he was fired in January 1995.

“We are saddened by the loss of Chuck Knox, a legendary coach and member of the Los Angeles Rams family,” the team said in a statement. “He established a winning culture and a legacy that will never be forgotten, being the only coach to lead the Rams to five consecutive double-digit-win seasons. The memories and accomplishments that Coach Knox left behind will continue to inspire us and Rams fans. We hold his family in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.”

Knox cut his NFL teeth as an offensive line coach with the New York Jets from 1963-1966 and Detroit Lions from 1967-1972. He finished his 22-year head-coaching career with a 186-147 regular-season record and a 7-11 mark in the postseason.

Rest in peace Coach Knox. Thanks for the memories my brother.
