Grassely, who chairs the Senate Judiciary Committee is done playing games and wants to see the “memo” a federal judge forced Mueller to write, outlining the purpose and scope of his witch-hunt.
Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley is asking the Justice Department for a document that lays out the full scope of special counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia investigation.

In a letter sent to Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein on May 18, Grassley, an Iowa Republican, noted Mueller’s team recently provided a federal judge in Virginia with an unredacted copy of the memo, which Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein wrote on Aug. 2, 2017.

The special counsel’s office provided the memo to Paul Manafort, President Donald Trump’s former campaign chairman indicted for bank and tax fraud related to his work in Ukraine. Congress is also entitled to see the document, Grassley said.

“This Committee likewise should be permitted to review the true nature and scope of the special counsel’s investigation. Like the Judiciary, Congress is a separate branch of government with its own constitutional duties that often require access to Executive Branch information. In this case, the interests relate to both legislative and oversight responsibilities,” Grassley wrote in his letter to Rosenstein.

Mueller did not have the jurisdiction to investigation areas not related to possible collusion between the Trump campaign and Russian government, Manafort’s team has argued.

Manafort’s lawyers have also questioned the timing of the memo, which Rosenstein wrote nearly three months after Mueller was appointed special counsel.

Several days before Rosenstein wrote the memo, Mueller executed a search warrant on Manafort’s Virginia residence. Manafort’s lawyers and other observers of the case have questioned whether the Rosenstein memo was written to retroactively provide cover for the Mueller raid.

Grassley also appears interested in the timing of the Rosenstein memo.

“The August Memorandum states that it addresses the special counsel’s authorization as of the date he was appointed. Why was this memorandum not drafted until August 2017?” Grassley asked.
Grassley has been a supporter of the Mueller investigation, the committee chairman noted. He has publicly warned President Trump against taking steps to shut down the investigation or fire Mueller.

“As I have said numerous times, that investigation should be free to follow the facts wherever they lead without any improper outside interference. However, that does not mean that it is immune from oversight or that information about the scope of its authority under existing Department regulations should be withheld from Congress,” Grassley said.

Following a four-month trial, a federal jury in Buffalo, New York, has convicted three leaders and members of the Kingsmen Motorcycle Club (KMC), including the National President, of multiple charges for their roles in a major racketeering operation that involved violence and murder.

Acting Assistant Attorney General John P. Cronan of the Justice Department’s Criminal Division, U.S. Attorney James P. Kennedy Jr. for the Western District of New York, Special Agent in Charge Gary Loeffert of FBI Buffalo, and Special Agent in Charge Kevin Kelly of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) made the announcement.

David Pirk, 67, KMC National President, and Andre Jenkins aka Little Bear, 39, KMC member and Nomad, were convicted of RICO conspiracy, possession of firearms in furtherance of crime of violence, murder in aid of racketeering, possession and discharge of a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence, using and maintaining premises for drug dealing and possession of firearms in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime. Jenkins was also convicted of being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Timothy Enix, aka Blaze, 58, KMC Nomad, National Secretary/Treasurer, and Florida/Tennessee Regional President, was convicted of RICO conspiracy, possession of firearms in furtherance of a crime of violence, using and maintaining premises for drug dealing and possession of firearms in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.

“The defendants and their associates transformed the Kingsmen Motorcycle Club into a vicious gang that terrorized the Buffalo area, engaging in senseless murders, brutal violence, robberies, and drug trafficking,” said Acting Assistant Attorney General Cronan. “But after today’s verdict, the Kingsmen Motorcycle Club’s reign of terror is coming to an end. The U.S. Department of Justice and our partners will aggressively pursue violent gangs wherever they are found and bring them to justice.”

“Motorcycle gangs have evolved over 70 years from bar-room brawlers to somewhat sophisticated criminals,” said FBI Special Agent in Charge Loeffert. “The Kingsmen’s leadership not only voiced a desire to turn its club into a “one-percenter” gang, it acted on that desire when Paul Maue and DJ Szymanski were killed. Those murders told everyone that the Kingsmen do not want to be aligned with the vast majority of riders who are law-abiding citizens. With today’s verdicts, the repeated and regular acts of violence so inculcated into the culture of the Kingsmen Motorcycle Club are over.”

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A Southeast Texas man was sentenced Wednesday to nine years in federal prison for possessing child pornography.

This investigation was conducted by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), with the assistance of the Corpus Christi Police Department’s Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.

Nicolas Hamm, 26, from Corpus Christi, pleaded guilty to possessing child pornography after authorities found more than 22,000 child pornography images in his possession.

U.S. District Judge Nelva Gonzales Ramos sentenced Hamm to 108 months in prison. He was further ordered to serve 10 years on supervised release after he completes his prison term, during which time he will have to comply with numerous requirements designed to restrict his access to children and the internet. He must also register as a sex offender.

In January 2017, authorities in Oklahoma were investigating an individual on sex trafficking charges. A search of that person’s cellphone revealed communications via a messenger application with another person with a user name of “jax1821.” The communications involved the sexual exploitation of children, and user name of “jax1821” was later linked to Hamm
In December 2017, law enforcement executed a search warrant at Hamm’s residence and seized several digital devices which led to the discovery of more than 22,000 images and 3,600 videos of child pornography. Many of the videos portrayed prepubescent girls involved in sexually explicit conduct with adult males.

Hamm remains in custody pending his sentencing hearing.

The investigation was conducted under HSI’s Operation Predator, an international initiative to protect children from sexual predators. Since the launch of Operation Predator in 2003, HSI has arrested more than 16,000 individuals for crimes against children, including the production and distribution of online child pornography, traveling overseas for sex with minors, and sex trafficking of children. In fiscal year 2016, more than 2,600 child predators were arrested by HSI special agents under this initiative and more than 800 victims identified or rescued.
