The White House has now decided that staffers and guests will no longer be able to use personal cell phones in the West Wing.

The announcement came right after a book came out against the Trump Administration in January which was rumored to be a tell-all book of the inner-workings of the Trump Administration. One that prompted President Donald Trump to threaten Steve Bannon with legal action since the book is full of quotes from him.

NBC News reported the White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders as saying:

“The security and integrity of the technology systems at the White House is a top priority for the Trump administration. Therefore, starting next week the use of all personal devices for both guests and staff will no longer be allowed in the West Wing,” she said. “Staff will be able to conduct business on their government-issued devices and continue working hard on behalf of the American people.”
But what Press Secretary Sanders declined to answer was whether the White House personal cell phone ban will also apply to the President’s devices. Instead, she answered “As always we do not discuss specific security measures around the president,”

This is a measure which has been in talks since early November of last year when the media started to suffer from leaks which no one other than White House staff could have been responsible for. This ban announcement followed the release of the now mostly discredited book “Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House,” by Michael Wolff, which went on to reveal widespread dysfunction and infighting inside the administration.

Perhaps one of the most damaging parts in the book is where Steve Bannon referred to a meeting of Trump campaign officials with a Russian lawyer in Trump Tower during the presidential campaign “treasonous” and “unpatriotic.” Which prompted an attorney for the President to threaten him with legal action since he violated a written confidentiality and nondisparagement agreement the moment he spoke to Wolff.

Funny how after Bannon was fired the leaks from the White House stopped cold. Never again did we hear about any other problem within the White House, either with the president or-or staff.

Here is more on this mess via Bloomberg:

“The White House may ban its employees from using personal mobile phones while at work, raising concerns among some staffers including that they’ll be cut off from family and friends, according to seven administration officials.

President Donald Trump has repeatedly complained about press leaks since taking office, but one official said the potential change isn’t connected to concerns about unauthorized disclosures to news organizations.

The proposed ban is instead driven by cybersecurity concerns, the officials said. One official said that there are too many devices connected to the campus wireless network and that personal phones aren’t as secure as those issued by the federal government. White House Chief of Staff John Kelly — whose personal phone was found to be compromised by hackers earlier this year — is leading the push for a ban, another official said.

The officials requested anonymity to discuss the proposal because it’s not final.

The White House already takes precautions with personal wireless devices, including by requiring officials to leave phones in cubbies outside of meeting rooms where sensitive or classified information is discussed. Top officials haven’t yet decided whether or when to impose the ban, and if it would apply to all staff in the executive office of the president.

While some lower-level officials support a ban, others worry it could result in a series of disruptive unintended consequences.

Mobile devices issued by the White House aren’t able to send text messages, creating a hardship for staff who say texting is often the easiest way for their families to reach them in the middle of a busy day of meetings. Other staff are concerned that they could be accused of wasting government resources if they use White House-issued phones to place personal calls.

The White House computer network already blocks employees from accessing certain websites, including Gmail and Google Hangouts, meaning that without personal devices officials could be cut off from their personal email accounts throughout the work day.
People opposed to the idea also note that government record-keeping requirements mean that records of personal calls placed to and from a government mobile phone would be archived and eventually made public

Ever since she lost the election Hillary Clinton has been working hard on the for-profit speaking circuit making hundreds of thousands preaching to the choir. Her most recent engagement was in Sydney, Australia at the Women World Changers series where she spoke about her experience as the former secretary of state. However, it was her attire that had people questioning what she was really up to after all.

Clinton had previously appeared with Julia Gillard in Melbourne and was attending the Women World Changers event with the former Australian Prime Minister. But the other thing that made an appearance was Clinton’s outfit and scarf that was weirdly tucked behind her jacket and not in the front like most scarfs are.

The Daily Mail reported,

“Clinton chose however to tie her scarf behind her neck, which added volume to the neckwear behind her head just a few days after some speculated that she may be wearing a back brace. Clinton’s look was also remarkably similar to the one she displayed on Thursday in Melbourne. There she wore a stretch wool crepe jacket in blue once again that extended to the knee along with slacks and kitten heels.

The jacket was a custom creation from Nina McLemore, and she finished the look off with an $1,100 cashmere-blend shawl from Hermes. And earlier in the week it was a fuchsia coat and yet another over-sized scarf for the first stop of the speaking tour in Auckland.

Clinton’s decision to wear a custom coat and repeat a look from last week will no doubt only fuel rumors that she has been wearing a back brace.

School Warns Students To Never Chant ‘USA,’ What Kids Did Instead Has Officials Regretting Their Rule!

High school students were majorly caught off-guard when they found out that someone at their school didn’t want to hear chants of “USA.” The kids responded in the most amazing way one could imagine. The students were upset and felt like their rights were being violated as Americans when they were told that chanting “USA” might be considered offensive or intolerant. However, since this is the USA, the students responded and what they did would make any patriotic parent proud.

The students pointed out that there are plenty of times where it’s appropriate to chant “USA” and it likely had officials regretting their decision to characterize the patriotic chant as offensive or intolerant. Chanting “USA” shouldn’t be offensive to anyone who is an American citizen, nor should it be considered intolerant because this is America.

Instead of responding with anger, the students took it upon themselves to act responsibly and question the statement about the “USA” chant being offensive or intolerant. The students reminded people that “we’re all Americans” which is why the chant shouldn’t be offensive to anyone. The students also reminded officials that one can be patriotic and empathetic at the same time.

This got people thinking and then it was later realized that chanting “USA” really isn’t offensive or intolerant at all. It took the peaceful questioning of wise students to raise this awareness to whoever thought it was offensive. Needless to say, there have not been any complaints about the chants at the particular high school.
Although local news tried to get a face-to-face interview with the school’s principal she would only answer questions via phone where she stated that the school can’t officially ban the chant but she still hopes that students will choose not to say it.

It should be acceptable for Americans to chant “USA” – right?

Here is more via CBS Local: “Controversy erupts at Vista Del Lago High School in Folsom over students chanting “USA.”

It’s a popular way to for students to show pride during sporting events and rallies, but school and district officials are now warning students that the chants could appear inappropriate and intolerant.

“I wasn’t angry, but I was definitely like, ‘Why can’t we chant USA?’” said senior Ryan Bernal, “To say USA, you know, we’re all the same. We’re all American. It doesn’t matter what your skin tone is or where you’re from.”

The chants are now causing chatter campus-wide after school staff brought up the topic to a leadership class.

Folsom Cordova Unified Communications Director Daniel Thigpen said, “To practice empathy, to practice kindness and to practice patriotism. You can do both.”

At some schools across the country, the chants appeared to be used in derogatory ways toward opponents of different ethnicities. The California Interscholastic Federation (CIF), which oversees high school athletics, addressed the concerns with local districts.

“There’s a time and a place to yell that and cheer that,” said CIF Sac-Joaquin Section Commissioner Mike Garrison.

The school’s principal sent out an email to families Wednesday and relayed the same message to students over the school’s P.A. system, clarifying any confusion. She told students and parents that sometimes “We can communicate an unintended message.” She also said USA chanting is welcome, but it may be best to do it at what she says are appropriate times, like following the national anthem or the Pledge of Allegiance.

School officials worry the chants could come across as intolerant and offensive to some, but parents see it differently, as an expression of pride and acceptance.

Mother Natalie Woodbury said, “I want to chant USA because I want us to pull together and help, not because I want anybody to feel left out or not a part of our country. ”

District officials say they want to make clear that there is no ban on chanting USA.

I’m glad that they will still allow our students to cheer for our country,” said Mother Cody Santero.

It’s a chant Bernal says will continue to be about uniting, not dividing.

“We’re all one. We all stand as one together,” she said.

The district says there has never been a complaint about USA chants at the school. Students say there’s likely to be a lot of chanting at this Friday’s football game, where the theme is USA pride.”
