A House Oversight Committee hearing descended into chaos Thursday night as Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) and Marjorie Taylor Greene exchanged personal insults during a debate over holding Attorney General Merrick Garland in contempt of Congress. The tension erupted when Greene made a snide remark about Texas Rep. Jasmine Crockett’s appearance, criticizing her “fake eyelashes.” AOC intervened, and the heated back-and-forth escalated quickly.

Chairman James Comer struggled to maintain order amidst the shouting. At one point, he even remarked, “I have two hearing aids, I’m very deaf,” in a plea to get everyone to stop yelling. The contentious exchange began with Greene questioning if any Democrats on the committee employed Judge Juan Merchan’s daughter, linking the inquiry to attempts to undermine Trump’s criminal trial.

Crockett, a freshman lawmaker, asked Greene, “Do you know what we’re here for?” Greene retorted with the insult about Crockett’s eyelashes, prompting AOC to step in and demand an apology. “That is absolutely unacceptable. How dare you attack the physical appearance of another person?” AOC exclaimed. Greene responded dismissively, asking, “Are your feelings hurt?”

The confrontation intensified with AOC calling Greene “baby girl” and Greene firing back, “Baby girl? I don’t think so.” During a break, AOC was overheard telling her colleagues that Greene’s “ego is bruised” and that she needed to apologize sincerely. Greene agreed to strike her words but refused to apologize, continuing to call AOC “not intelligent.”

Crockett did not take Greene’s remarks lying down and made a pointed comment about whether talking about someone’s “bleach blonde bad built butch body” would be permissible under the committee’s rules. Comer was forced to clarify, amid ongoing chaos and shouting.

Emily Ratajkowski branded Diddy a “monster” on Friday, leading the horrified celebrity reactions to newly unearthed footage of his violent assault on Cassie in a Los Angeles hotel in 2016. The video, obtained by CNN, shows Diddy, whose real name is Sean Combs, shirtless with a towel wrapped around his waist, chasing Cassie down the hall at the InterContinental Hotel in Century City. As she tried to get into an elevator, he grabbed her by the back of the head and slammed her to the ground. He then kicked her as she lay motionless on the floor, before taking the two designer bags she had tried to escape with. Diddy stood over her, kicked her again, and then dragged her back to their room by the hoodie.

Aubrey O’Day, who once worked with Diddy but has been fiercely critical of him since he fired her from the singing group Danity Kane in 2008, commented on X: “The picture is getting a lot more clear for you all I can imagine.” She added: “Abuse survivors or anyone that triggers easily might not want to watch (images are disturbing). #Cassie #diddy #kimporter. Prayers up for all his victims.”

Diddy’s rival, 50 Cent (real name Curtis Jackson), tweeted sarcastically: “Now I’m sure Puffy didn’t do it, he is innocent this proves nothing! This is what his lawyers are gonna say, God help us all.” Jackson also mocked a defiant statement Diddy had issued last December in which he denied various sex crime accusations, commenting, “The lie detector test has determined this was a lie…. Maury vibes.”

Cassie’s husband, Alex Fine, posted a heartfelt “Letter to women and children,” revealing that he had written it “awhile back.” His message included: “Men who hit women aren’t men. Men who enable it and protect those people aren’t men.” Fine encouraged his followers to “Hold the women in your life with the utmost regard,” adding, “Men who hurt women hate women.” His message to perpetrators of abuse was: “You’re done, you’re not safe anymore, you’re not protected anymore.”

Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy wrote, “Throw Diddy in jail. Throw away the key.”

Deal or No Deal alumna Claudia Jordan commented, “And some folks were really STILL defending this man and claiming Cassie was just ‘money hungry.’ Mind you this is what happened when she tried to leave him.” Jordan continued, “Women need 50-11 witnesses, medical records and surveillance footage to kinda get believed—but it’s still our fault for ‘putting ourselves in these situations.’ SMH!!!!!”

Former ESPN broadcaster Jemele Hill wrote on X, “So many people doubted Cassie’s story when it took unbelievable courage for her to come forward. God bless that woman. Wishing her every good thing. Diddy is a POS.”

The disturbing footage was filmed at the InterContinental Hotel in Century City in March 2016, just two days before Diddy and Cassie appeared on the red carpet holding hands for the premiere of The Perfect Match. Cassie’s attorney, Douglas Wigdor, said the video has only further confirmed the disturbing and predatory behavior of Mr. Combs. Words cannot express the courage and fortitude that Ms. Ventura has shown in coming forward to bring this to light.

Cassie sued Combs last year alleging a range of other offenses. They settled out of court in November for an undisclosed amount. In her statement at the time, Cassie said: “I have decided to resolve this matter amicably on terms that I have some level of control. I want to thank my family, fans, and lawyers for their unwavering support.”
