🚨New Footage Reveals Pelosi Admitted Responsibility for Lack of National Guard on January 6🚨
Newly released video footage provided to House Republicans shows then-Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) admitting responsibility for not deploying the National Guard to protect the Capitol building ahead of the January 6, 2021, protests. The footage, shot by Pelosi’s daughter, documentarian Alexandra Pelosi, was recently provided to congressional investigators by HBO. Notably, this footage was never aired nor provided to the January 6 Committee during its investigation into the Capitol riot.
The video reveals Pelosi acknowledging her responsibility for the security lapses on that day. “We have responsibility … we did not have any accountability for what was going on there. And we should have. … Why weren’t the National Guard there to begin with?” she is heard saying. Pelosi further admits, “I take responsibility for not having them [the National Guard] just prepare for war.”
This footage substantiates claims by former President Donald Trump that Pelosi was responsible for failing to ensure sufficient security ahead of the protest. Trump had offered the National Guard in the days before the “Stop the Steal” rally, but this offer was refused. Trump was later criticized for not intervening quickly enough to deploy the Guard during the riot.
The January 6 Committee, which was responsible for investigating the events surrounding the Capitol riot, never subpoenaed Speaker Pelosi or her daughter for documents about the riot. Pelosi also rejected Republican nominees for the minority positions on the January 6 Committee, marking the first time in congressional history that the leader of the majority party had done so. Instead, she hand-picked two anti-Trump Republicans, resulting in a one-sided investigation that did not question Pelosi’s role in the events.
