President Trump on Friday continued to push for the U.S.-Mexico border wall, citing border security.

“Our Southern Border is under siege. Congress must act now to change our weak and ineffective immigration laws. Must build a Wall. Mexico, which has a massive crime problem, is doing little to help!” the president wrote on Twitter.
Trump, who reportedly requested $18 billion in wall funding, has faced much criticism from his supporters for accepting a budget that included only $1.6 billion for the effort, notes Politico.

Ronald Vitello, the acting deputy commissioner of U.S. Customs and Border Protection, told reporters in March that the money would be used for wall replacements and the construction of new sections.

This week, 22 Parks and Wildlife officers will be deployed to the border in Texas and Arizona with more planned for the future.

U.S. park police and rangers have traditionally been tasked with protecting people and nature at national parks. But Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke will be sending park police officers to the U.S.-Mexico border as part of a show of strength by the Trump administration.
