Mindhunter – Emmy Award Winning Filmmaker Mark Olshaker on The Hagmann Report

Mark Olshaker is an Emmy Award-winning filmmaker and a New York Times best-selling non-fiction author. His research, writing and consulting, has involved working closely with leading experts in the fields of law enforcement and criminal justice, public health, disease prevention, intelligence, bio-defense and pandemic planning.

The seven nonfiction books he has written with John Douglas, former FBI Special Agent and criminal profiling pioneer, beginning with Mindhunter: Inside the FBI’s Elite Serial Crime Unit have sold millions of copies and have made Olshaker a sought-after speaker and consultant on criminal justice and victims’ rights issues.

MINDHUNTER is now a critically acclaimed Netflix series, produced and directed by David Fincher. Mark Olshaker’s other co-authored books with John Douglas include The Cases That Haunt Us that revisits, with the perspective of modern criminal profiling analysis, murder cases from Jack the Ripper, Lizzie Borden’s parents, the Lindberg baby, Jon Benet Ramsey, the Zodiac Killer, and the Whitechapel murders. The book title Law & Disorder: Inside the Dark Heart of Murder, also co-written with John Douglas, concerning failures of the criminal justice system and the use of behavioral profiling and criminal investigative analysis to exonerate the falsely accused.

Mark Olshaker also has extensive experience with research with the Centers for Disease Control and the U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Disease (USAMRID) which led to his book VIRUS HUNTER and the PBS programs What’s Killing the Children?, Bioterror: Dealing With a New Reality and Anatomy of a Pandemic. His book with Dr. Michael Osterholm, DEADLIEST ENEMY: Our War Against Killer Germs, on the realities of infectious disease, was published in 2017 to universal praise from the public health community.

Olshaker and Douglas are currently completing their latest book, UNMASKING EVIL, a journey deep into the criminal mind. Finally Mark Olshaker currently serves on the board of the Rod Serling Memorial Foundation.
