Why the Queen Feels Meghan Markle Needs a ‘Steadying Hand’

While Meghan Markle has already proven adept at navigating royal outings alongside her husband Prince Harry, she is still very much in learning mode.

With her first solo public duty alongside Queen Elizabeth, 92, scheduled for June 14, the newly minted Duchess of Sussex is being immersed in just how the reigning monarch — who has more than seven decades of experience under her belt — conducts an “away day.”

“The Queen knows the potential pitfalls of not giving [new members] a guiding hand,” Ingrid Seward, author of the recent biography of the Queen and Prince Philip, My Husband & I, tells PEOPLE in this week’s issue. “It’s all about the monarchy. She can’t expect Meghan to know everything without being shown.”

“She doesn’t want 70 years of hard work to be for nothing,” adds Seward.”I’m sure she feels Meghan needs a steadying hand in these early days.”

The Queen and her new granddaughter-in-law, 36, will head to Cheshire, about 200 miles northwest of London, via the royal train for the joint engagement.

“It is the way of the royal family—all part of the training and getting used to being in public life and under public scrutiny,” says Elizabeth’s former press secretary Charles Anson. “Showing people the ropes is a high priority for the Queen.”

The day will encapsulate a typical set of royal engagements: opening a bridge, meeting school children, watching a few moments from a local theater production and of course a brief walkabout.

“The initiative must have come from the Queen,” says Robert Lacey, historical consultant forThe Crown. “It’s not something Meghan or Harry would have asked for. It’s an exciting move. Perhaps only now do we realize that it has been one of Elizabeth’s skills to modernize the monarchy without appearing overtly to be doing so — and this is the latest sign of it.”

Melania Trump appeared at an event for Gold Star families. It was her first public appearance in over 20 days, but that didn’t stop the Internet from creating their own ideas about why she was missing for so long and why no one has seen her in public. Don’t forget, she recently had surgery on her kidney and was released to go home after spending a few days in the hospital. While the concept of resting up after surgery, then getting back to work makes sense, it may not make sense to those who wish to have fun detailing their own conspiracy using 280 characters on Twitter.

Some of the people making up stories went over the edge, saying horrible things that suggest Donald Trump was beating his wife. While there’s absolutely no merit or evidence of any of the nonsense theories, they were still floating around the web on social media. Of course, there will always be people who believe everything they read on the Internet. These are the same people who can barely figure out how to operate their email account, or they’re extremists of their political party. Either way, the claims are 99.9% fake, but they might provide you with a good laugh.

This was probably the most disgusting accusations and another blog picked it up and tore it to shreds.
The blog called Chicks on the Right wrote this about the conspiracies floating around the web from the resisters and tin hats:

Over the course of the last few weeks, liberals have developed some gross theories. Some suggested Trump murdered her. Others said she was on s*****e watch. That’s what MSM is running with now, and it’s absolutely ludicrous. Do these people actually realize what they’re saying? They’re accusing the President of the United States of BEATING THE FIRST LADY IN THE WHITE HOUSE. 1.) Trump is NOT that kind of man and 2.) I seriously doubt Secret Service would let that fly. There are so many White House leaks that we would ALL know about it yesterday. Also, what makes them think Melania would put up with that kind of abuse?

Melania Trump’s spokeswoman Stephanie Grisham released this statement in response to the insane rumors.

“Mrs. Trump has always been a strong and independent woman who puts her family, and certainly her health, above all else, and that won’t change over a rabid press corps,” Grisham told Fox News. “She’s confident in what she is doing and in her role, and knows the rest is just speculation and nonsense.”
Their tin hats must be this big to come up with such a bunch of nonsense.

If anyone needed a circus of hilarity to watch, then this was it. What would happen if someone said that Barack Obama was abusing Michelle Obama? Would there be an outrage? Would people laugh it off as silly? No matter who the President is, there is always people who dislike them and say horrible things. However, to be some guy with a blue check mark on Twitter, who writes for Rolling Stone, one might think they would act with a little bit more class. Then again, Twitter does have a history of providing blue verified check marks to numerous people who act in disgusting ways, with Rosie O’Donnell coming to mind. Granted, the verification system doesn’t exactly go by personality, but it’s just to confirm who someone is. Either way, it’s one of those token rewards that supposedly well-known people get, even though a lot of the people who have the blue check mark are unknowns.

SOUTHWEST ASIA – Syrian Democratic Forces initiated ground operations for phase two of Operation Roundup to defeat Daesh remnants in northeastern Syria today.

The SDF ground offensive, aimed at clearing Dashisha, is bolstered by coordinated Coalition cross-border air and artillery strikes, and our Iraqi partners’ strikes by the Iraqi Air Force and Iraqi Army artillery positioned near the border.

Iraqi Security Forces have also enhanced their border presence to prevent the escape of Daesh members from Syria into Iraq.

Operation Roundup began May 1, and the successful first phase ended with the clearance of Baghuz, Syria May 15.

“This is a well-coordinated, powerful offensive to annihilate Daesh remnants in northeastern Syria,” said Lt. Gen. Paul E. Funk II, commander of Combined Joint Task Force – Operation Inherent Resolve. “Our partners are aggressively taking the fight to what’s left of Daesh’s conventional force, which has been demoralized by military losses and its leadership’s abandonment of the terrorists they left on the front lines.”
Coalition strikes supporting Roundup in May exceeded April’s strike total by 123%, and March’s strike total by 304%. Ongoing strikes are targeting Daesh command and control centers, weapons production and storage facilities, safe houses and facilitation sites. “We and our Iraqi partners are also targeting a lot of tunnel complexes and underground storage sites, where Daesh are hiding,” said Funk.

Despite their significant sacrifices thus far in the fight against Daesh, the multi-ethnic Syrian Democratic Forces remain committed to liberating the people of northeastern Syria from Daesh’s control and putting an end to the human suffering in the area.

CJTF-OIR remains committed to the defeat of Daesh, destroying their fake caliphate and setting the conditions for follow-on operations to increase regional stability.

Baghdad, IRAQ – Saraya Al-Salam brigades affiliated with Shia cleric Muqtada al-Sadr said on Tuesday that its fighters killed 13 Islamic State militants during a military operation between Anbar and Salahuddin provinces, Iraqi News reports.

“A wide-scale military operation dubbed the Great Badr was launched in cooperation with the Iraqi army to eliminate Islamic State militants in different areas between Anbar and Salahuddin provinces,” Iraqi website Baghdad Today quoted the pro-Sadr brigades as saying in a statement.
“Thirteen Islamic State militants were killed as a result of the operation,” the statement read.

The operation comes one day after four fighters of Saraya Al-Salam were killed in clashes with Islamic State militants in Salahuddin province.

Last December, Sadr ordered his fighters to hand state-issued weapons back to the government following the country’s defeat of the Islamic State group.

Sadr’s Saraya al-Salam fighters took up arms against the extremist group in 2014 after the fall of Mosul and are officially part of the government-sanctioned Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF), also known as al-Hashd al-Shaabi.

Sadr called on his fighters to also hand over parts of the territory they control to Iraq’s security forces, however, he stressed that his fighters would remain present as protectors of a holy Shiite shrine in Samarra, north of Baghdad.

Meanwhile in Kirkuk, Iraq, four civilians were wounded in a bomb blast, northwest of Kirkuk, a security source said on Monday.

Speaking to AlSumaria News, the source said “a bomb went off targeting a vehicle carrying four people in Hetteen region, near police station in al-Dibs town, northwest of Kirkuk, leaving them injured.”

“Security troops cordoned off the blast scene, while the ambulances transferred the wounded to nearby hospital for treatment,” the source, who preferred anonymity, added.

Their conditions are unknown at this time.

Violence in the country has surged further with the emergence of Islamic State extremist militants who proclaimed an “Islamic Caliphate” in Iraq and Syria in 2014.

The surge in violence between armed groups and government forces has resulted in over five million internally displaced persons across Iraq and left more than 11 million in need of humanitarian assistance, according to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs.

Violence and armed conflicts left 94 Iraqis dead during the month of May, the United Nations said in its monthly casualty count as the the security situations continue to sway after the defeat of Islamic State militants.

In its report, the United Nations Assistance Mission in Iraq (UNAMI) said 163 others were wounded, adding that Baghdad was the worst affected Governorate, with 117 civilian casualties (45 killed, 72 injured), followed by Diyala with 9 killed and 35 injured, and Kirkuk with 20 killed and 16 injured.

The organization maintained that the numbers it provides were a “minimum”, saying that hindrances to its works prevent it from setting the exact toll.

Again, what in the hell are these people fighting over?

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA – Four men have been charged with killing a man and dumping his body in a canyon on Monday, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced.

Hercules Dimitrios Balaskas (dob 5/8/99), Matthew Martin Capiendo Luzon (dob 10/10/96), Francisco Amigon (dob 1/23/99) and Jacob Hunter Elmendorf (dob 3/10/99) have each been charged with three counts in case KA118273: first-degree murder with special circumstances, first-degree residential robbery and kidnapping.

The felony complaint includes three special circumstance allegations of lying in wait and murder during the commission of a kidnapping and robbery.

Additionally, the charging document alleges that Balaskas personally used a deadly and dangerous weapon, a metal chair, during the commission of the murder, robbery and kidnapping. Furthermore, the complaint alleges Luzon personally used a deadly and dangerous weapon, a rock and broken glass pipe, during the murder, robbery and kidnapping.

Balaskas, Amigon and Elmendorf were scheduled to be arraigned today, but the court appearance was continued to June 6 in Department N of the Los Angeles County Superior Court, Pomona Branch.
Luzon remains out of custody. (WHY?!?)

Prosecutors allege Balaskas, Luzon, Amigon and Elmendorf attacked Julian Hamori-Andrade on May 28. The four defendants then allegedly kidnapped, robbed and killed the victim and dumped his body in Azusa Canyon, prosecutors added.

If convicted as charged, each of the defendants faces the death penalty or life in state prison without the possibility of parole. The decision whether to seek capital punishment will be made at a later date.

The case is being investigated by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
