April 14 (Bloomberg) — Austan Goolsbee, a senior White House economic adviser, talks with Bloomberg’s Lori Rothman and Julie Hyman about today’s meeting between President Barack Obama and House and Senate leaders. Obama said congressional leaders must finish work on revamping US financial-market rules, including oversight for the $605 trillion over-the-counter derivatives market. Republican Leader Mitch McConnell, who was at the White House meeting, has characterized the proposal as a guaranteed bailout for failing banks. (Source: Bloomberg)
