Four women come together in an unlikely group to pull off a heist in “Widows,” the latest drama from Steve McQueen (“12 Years a Slave”). Here, Viola Davis stars as Veronica, a Chicago Teachers Union employee who, when she is forced to pay off a debt, must pick up where her criminal husband (Liam Neeson) left off.
This scene has the movie’s conspirators (consisting of Davis, Cynthia Erivo, Michelle Rodriguez and Elizabeth Debicki) coming together for the first time, albeit with some protests from Veronica. McQueen discusses why he kept all the performers in a wide shot, rather than close-ups.
