This lawsuit, filed confidentially, emerges just before Lifetime’s documentary, “Where Is Wendy Williams?”, intended to shed light on Williams’ recent life under guardianship, was scheduled to debut. Sources close to the situation suggest the lawsuit aims to block the documentary’s release, with a judicial review slated for next week to decide if the case details should remain sealed. Both Morrissey and A&E have yet to comment on the matter.
Mark Ford, the documentary’s executive producer, disclosed to PEOPLE that all necessary consents were obtained for the film, including approvals from Williams, her management, and legal representatives involved in the guardianship. Despite initial intentions for the documentary to chronicle Williams’ professional resurgence, it shifted focus upon uncovering her ongoing battle with alcohol dependency and health complications, such as Graves’ disease and lymphedema. The narrative took an unexpected turn, driven by the necessity to pursue the uncovered truths. Within the documentary, Williams alleges financial misconduct by her guardian, though no evidence was provided to substantiate these claims. The documentary, initially aimed at highlighting Williams’ comeback, evolved to expose her profound personal and health challenges.
