New Border Wall Plan Shakes Washington—Sanctuary Cities Could Lose Everything

We need a border wall.

That’s just the plain and simple truth of the matter. Illegal immigration has spun out of control and our defenses at the southern border are still woefully lacking.

But there is the big question of expense: who will foot that massive bill?

This is a question that has dominated political conversation ever since Donald Trump was elected President. And there doesn’t appear to be an easy answer.

American taxpayers could pay for some of it, of course, and Trump floated the idea of having Mexico pay for the wall as well.
However, perhaps there’s a better solution. And when you think about it, this one makes perfect sense.

Rep. Robert Pittenger (R-N.C.) made an announcement regarding the new plan, in legislation titled: “Make Sanctuary Cities Pay for the Wall Act.”

From IJR:

“With well over 300 sanctuary cities across the country, it is past time for Congress to take decisive action. Sanctuary cities blatantly subvert the rule of law, incentivize further illegal immigration and endanger law-abiding citizens.

All the while, criminals and drugs flow across our porous southern border, bringing violence and crime into our towns and communities.

This poses a critical threat to public safety and America’s national security as we know that Hezbollah and other terrorist organizations are actively operating in Latin America. Enough is enough.
By simultaneously defunding sanctuary cities and funding construction of a border wall, this legislation offers a comprehensive solution to one of our nation’s most pressing and persistent problems.”

How perfect is that?

Punish those who encourage and protect illegal aliens by making them pay for the country’s defense! Like we said, it makes perfect sense.

If it passes, the legislation would really put a serious hurt on sanctuary cities:

“…the legislation will withhold ‘certain federal funds and grants from jurisdictions that forbid their law enforcement officials from sharing information with federal immigration officials or complying with an immigration detainer.’”

Both the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) and NumbersUSA have already endorsed this bill, so it’s off to a positive start.

Do you agree with this idea? Would you support this piece of legislation? We sure would!

City Demands Fallen Soldier Flags Be Removed – Owner Responds Like A Patriot

There should be no punishment for supporting our country’s fallen heroes.

And if you’re pressured to suppress your support, you stand up. You stand up for those who fought before you.

That’s exactly what Johnny Brann, owner of Brann’s restaurants, did when faced with a difficult situation where military honor was called into question.

The owner of the popular West Michigan chain puts flags outside his restaurants that bear the names of fallen soldiers and police officers.

It’s a beautiful sign of respect to our heroes and yet, he was recently told he had to take them down.
Brann said he received an official note saying the flags were in violation of city ordinance. But this particular patriot isn’t budging. Via WoodTV8:

“Simply put, I’m not taking them down.

I know all the families of the fallen heroes and I committed to them that their sons are going to be remembered. It’s so important to them and me.”

Apparently, the city has a problem with the size and number of the flags, and they may have received a complaint.
But Brann doesn’t really care.

“They have to respond to complaints, which I understand and respect. I received the notices, I read them and filed them.

They can stay in the file because I’m not taking them (the flags) down.”

One of the flags is for U.S. Army Specialist Eric Burri, who lost his life in Iraq in June 2005. His father, John, said he can’t understand why anyone would have an issue with the flags.

“It’s very upsetting knowing that after they’ve been up there a while already, someone is complaining and they want to do something about it.

“This is this man’s business. It’s his building. This is supposed to be the land of the free.

At what point do you say enough is enough?”
Brann’s situation got plenty of attention and thankfully, many members of the military and police support groups from around the state have pledged their support to Brann.

“We understand cities need ordinances, and we get that, but it’s more important we honor the people that sacrificed everything for us,” said Amy Waltrop of Back the Badge Michigan.

As for the brave and respectful owner, there’s no wavering. There’s no negotiating. Those flags are symbols and they’re not going anywhere.

“They will be up there and they will not be taken down,” Brann finished.

Who else thinks this guy deserves a medal?

The nation’s railroads are so desperate to find new employees, many are offering big incentives, such as a $25,000 signing bonus for new hires as the country gets to near “full employment” in the era of President Donald Trump.

Some railroad companies are offering these incentives as the volume of freight grows because of the high demand placed on shippers due to a rising economy, according to the Wall Street Journal.

BNSF Railway and Union Pacific Corp. have seen a huge hike in business as the Trump economy hums along, but after years of lower volume, these companies are finding a sudden need for new employees.

The same need for new employees is seen in the over-the-road trucking industry, and some of that shipping is being funneled to the railroads. In fact, many trucking companies are offering similarly large signing bonuses as the economy picks up.
The railroads have taken to Twitter to advertise their need for new employees:

The $25,000 bonuses offered by Union Pacific will be issued in multiple payments, according to reports. The employee must also remain at his assigned location for a three-year period, the Journal writes. Union Pacific also warns that any new hire who quits early will be required to repay any bonus payments issued to date.

In addition, BNSF spokesperson Amy Casas admitted that the hiring climate is tight, according to WCMH TV.

“Hiring has become more difficult,” Casas said. “This year, BNSF expects to fill more than 3,500 hourly positions across our network in areas including our transportation, engineering, dispatching and mechanical crafts.”
