DOJ Files Charges Against 11 Alleged ‘Caravan Migrants’ for Illegal Entry to U.S.

The Department of Justice is reported to have filed criminal charges against 11 “caravan migrants” who allegedly entered the United States illegally over the weekend. One of the migrants is reportedly charged with illegal re-entry after removal.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of California filed criminal complaints against 11 people who are believed to be members of the “migrant caravan,” according to a statement obtained by Breitbart Texas.

“When respect for the rule of law diminishes, so too does our ability to protect our great nation, its borders, and its citizens,” Attorney General Jeff Sessions said in the statement. “The United States will not stand by as our immigration laws are ignored and our nation’s safety is jeopardized. U.S. Attorney Adam Braverman and his team should be commended for quickly filing illegal entry charges for individuals apprehended along the southwestern border. We will continue to work with our partners in each U.S. Attorney’s Offices to aggressively pursue prosecutions of criminal illegal entry.”

A federal law enforcement official told CNN that charges were filed against two Salvadorans, six Hondurans, and three Guatemalans.

Many of the alleged illegal aliens crossed the border in the Goat Canyon region, about 4 miles east of the San Ysidro Port of Entry where a few hundred “caravan migrants” gathered in anticipation of crossing the border to file for asylum. Some of the others reportedly crossed about 2 miles west of the port in an area known as “W-8.”

San Diego Sector Chief Patrol Agent Rodney S. Scott said that a group of migrants believed to be part of the “migrant caravan” crossed the border illegally on Friday and Saturday, Breitbart California’s Joel Pollak reported.
“In several of these incidents, children as young as 4-years-old, and in one case a pregnant female, were detected entering the United States illegally through a dark, treacherous canyon that is notorious for human and drug smuggling,” Scott said in a written statement.

The chief’s statement continued:

Entering the United States at any place other than an official Port of Entry is illegal. …

To anyone that is associated with this caravan, Think Before You Act. If anyone has encouraged you to illegally enter the United States, or make any false statements to U.S. government officials, they are giving you bad advice and they are placing you and your family at risk.

We are a very welcoming country but just like your own house, we expect everyone to enter through our front door, and answer questions honestly. On a national level that front door is the Ports of Entry. If you enter the United States at any place other than a Port of Entry it is a crime. You will be arrested and referred for prosecution.

One of the 11 “caravan migrants” charged in the criminal complaint has allegedly been previously deported. If convicted for aggravated re-entry after removal, the illegal alien could face up to 20 years in federal prison.

Court documents obtained by Breitbart Texas revealed that in addition to the Central American migrants who crossed illegally three Indian nationals also crossed with the group.

Border Patrol agents arrested 18 people who allegedly crossed the border illegally at the “Goat Canyon” area on Friday night. Agents said the illegal aliens admitted to being citizens of foreign countries. Thirteen of the migrants admitted to being Honduran nationals, three were citizens of India, one came from Guatemala, and one from Mexico, court documents stated.

We all knew it would only be a matter of time until a high-ranking Democrat tried to silence Kanye West and try to suppress the tide that currently turning in the black community.

Maxine Waters is now using everything at her disposal to discredit West and discourage him from voicing his support for President Trump.
On Monday, Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) tore into Kanye West for West’s heresy in questioning the hegemony of the Democratic Party among black Americans.

Asked by a Politico writer about West, Waters stated, “Kanye West is a very creative young man. … But we also think that sometimes West talks out of turn and perhaps he needs some assistance in helping him to formulate some of his thoughts. We don’t think that he actually means to do harm, but we’re not sure he really understands the impact of what he’s saying, at the time that he’s saying it and how that weighs on, particularly the African-American community – and for young people in general.”
She continued: “I understand that he is getting pushback from a lot of young people on the internet … but we’re hopeful that his creativity will continue to be demonstrated in his work. And I think maybe he should think twice about politics – and maybe not have so much to say.”

“Talks out of turn”? “Maybe not have so much to say”? West’s entire point is that he should be able to speak out in ways Maxine Waters doesn’t like.

Waters’ nonsense is incredibly paternalistic, obviously. Imagine if a white person said something like this about, say, LeBron James. Oh, wait, it happened, and the entire Left called Laura Ingraham a racist. But when a two-bit grafter like Maxine Waters calls out Kanye West for saying obvious things about the monolithic support for the Democratic Party among black Americans, then she’s treated as perfectly normal.

And there’s tremendous irony to Waters calling West uninformed, a person who needs help formulating his thoughts. This is a woman who called the Los Angeles riots an “uprising.” This is a person whose husband, a major stockholder in OneUnited Bank, stood to see major benefit from her position on the House Financial Services Committee. This is a Congresswoman who said that Putin was invading Korea (not Crimea), said that she was once a Millennial (nope), promoted abortion by saying, “I have to march because my mother could not have an abortion” (wut) and claimed that she never called for Trump’s impeachment after calling repeatedly for Trump’s impeachment. But somehow Kanye’s the uninformed one? And Waters is the great font of wisdom?

Nader Saadeh, 23, of Rutherford, New Jersey, was sentenced today to 10 years in prison, to be followed by a lifetime of supervised release, for conspiring to provide material support to the Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham (ISIS), a designated foreign terrorist organization.

The announcement was made by Assistant Attorney General for the National Security John C. Demers, U.S. Attorney Craig Carpenito for the District of New Jersey and Special Agent in Charge Gregory W. Ehrie of the FBI’s Newark, New Jersey Division. Saadeh previously pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge Susan D. Wigenton to an information charging him with one count of conspiring with others to provide material support to ISIS. Judge Wigenton imposed the sentence today in Newark federal court.

“ISIS is a threat to the people of the United States, both here and abroad, and the National Security Division will aggressively investigate and prosecute all who seek aid it,” said Assistant Attorney General Demers. “I applaud the dedication of the agents at the FBI and the Newark Joint Terrorism Task Force and the prosecutors here at the Department of Justice, who together thwarted the defendant’s attempt to fight for ISIS against the U.S. and its allies.”
“Saadeh traveled overseas for the sole purpose of joining and fighting for ISIS, an international terrorist organization that has repeatedly taken and threatened to take the lives of our citizens and allies all over the world,” said U.S. Attorney Carpenito. “Thanks to the intervention of the FBI-Newark Joint Terrorism Task Force and federal prosecutors on this case, Saadeh’s criminal aspirations were never realized. Instead of joining ISIS’ ranks, he will spend the next several years in prison.”

“I want to commend the work of the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force investigators and prosecutors in the U.S. Attorney’s office who worked countless hours throughout this investigation to protect the community in their execution of the FBI’s Counterterrorism strategy to detect, penetrate and disrupt potential acts of terrorism in the United States and abroad,” said Special Agent in Charge Ehrie.

According to documents filed in this and related cases and statements made in court:

Saadeh admitted that prior to his arrest on Aug. 10, 2015, by the FBI-Newark Joint Terrorism Task Force (JTTF), he planned to travel overseas to join ISIS along with others. Saadeh discussed his plans to join ISIS with his brother, Alaa Saadeh, Samuel Rahamin Topaz, Munther Omar Saleh and Fareed Mumuni, and admitted that at various times each of them indicated that they wanted to join ISIS. Saadeh also admitted that he and these other men watched ISIS-related videos, some of which depicted the execution of individuals – both Muslim and non-Muslim – regarded by ISIS as enemies.

On May 5, 2015, Saadeh departed the United States with plans to travel overseas to join ISIS in furtherance of the conspiracy, according to his statements in court. Saadeh admitted that once he reached ISIS-controlled territory he intended to fight on behalf of ISIS. Saadeh further admitted that Saleh assisted him by giving him a contact who would facilitate his travel from Turkey to ISIS in Syria.

Saadeh admitted that prior to his departure from the United States, Saleh showed him technical drawings for making homemade bombs. Saadeh admitted that Saleh and Mumuni discussed plans to carry out an attack in ISIS’ name using homemade bombs at locations in New York City, including Times Square, the World Trade Center, and Vaughn College of Aeronautics and Technology, in Queens, New York.

Saadeh admitted knowing that ISIS was a designated terrorist organization and was taking over territory overseas, expelling non-Muslims from their homes and executing individuals who did not obey ISIS’ commands.

Topaz and Alaa Saadeh have also pleaded guilty to conspiring to provide material support to ISIS. Alaa Saadeh was sentenced to 15 years in prison on May 10, 2016. Topaz is set to be sentenced on May 1. Saleh and Mumuni have both pleaded guilty to related charges brought by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of New York. Saleh was sentenced to 18 years in prison on Feb. 6. Mumuni was sentenced to 17 years in prison on April 26.
