Whatever you do, never believe that liberals are only interested in “gun control.”

It’s not true.
They are on a mission to take away your guns, and this latest move by a Democrat lawmaker who wants to halt all production of assault rifles is a great example of that truth.

On Friday, Rep. Ted Deutch (D-FL) appeared on CNN. During his segment, anchor Kate Bolduan asked the representative about gun control, specifically noting Rep. Eric Swalwell’s (D-CA) recent op-ed in which he suggests banning semi-automatic rifles, and prosecuting those who refuse to turn them over.

BALDUAN: Let me ask you this, [because] you lay out some of the regulations that you support and many Americans support, but we also have fellow Democrat Eric Swalwell, for example, he’s from California. He put out an op-ed yesterday arguing for reinstating the assault weapons ban. But it was not just that. He went quite a bit further, and he said that what he also wants is, “we should buy back such weapons from all who choose to abide by the law, and we should criminally prosecute any who choose to defy it by keeping their weapons.” So when gun rights advocates say Democrats just want to take away your guns, are they now right?

DEUTCH: Listen, there are gun buyback programs that exist in some communities, and if people choose to turn in their guns, certainly law enforcement is working with them to do that. I think what we ought to do and what the NRA always refuses –

BALDUAN: But is Swalwell going a step too far when he says that people should be held criminally responsible if they don’t turn over their weapons?

DEUTCH: Well, I think what’s important is to stop the production of weapons of war that don’t belong on our streets…just remember this, it was just about 90 years ago also on Valentine’s Day that a massacre in Chicago led Congress to say we can’t have all these machine guns on our streets. No one has questioned that decision. Now it was another massacre on Valentine’s Day here in Parkland that should prompt Congress to say we can’t have all these assault weapons on our streets.

No one’s complained about that law. Let’s treat these assault weapons the same way we treat machine guns. That ought to be something that everyone can get behind. No more manufacture. Let’s get them out of our communities.

There are two primary problems with Deutch’s comments. First, he flatly refuses to answer Balduan’s question about supporting Rep. Swalwell’s gun confiscation idea, which could lead viewers to believe that he does indeed agree with Swalwell on the issue.
Second, Deutch states: “No more manufacture. Let’s get them out of our communities.” This is incredibly reductive.

Stopping the manufacturing of semi-automatic rifles wouldn’t “get them out of our communities,” as Deutch indicates. While it’s impossible to know how many semi-automatic rifles are in circulation because there isn’t a national registry, “the NRA estimates that between 8.5 million and 15 million assault rifles are in circulation based on manufacturer data,” reports McClatchy.

If lawmakers in Washington, D.C. passed a manufacturing ban of all semi-automatic rifles, there would still be millions in circulation. Even if lawmakers instituted a buyback, it’s outside the realm of possibility that every American who owns a semi-automatic rifle would participate.

When Australia instituted its buyback in 1996, the government recovered approximately 650,000 guns — an estimated one-sixth of the nation’s “assault weapons” stock.

In order to get semi-automatic rifles “out of our communities,” the government would have to order a mandatory confiscation program. Such a program would be impractical, incredibly expensive, and likely dangerous. It would require law enforcement authorities to walk door to door, and forcibly gather firearms from otherwise law-abiding Americans who decided not to hand over their legally purchased firearms.

Deutch acts as though discontinuing the manufacture of semi-automatic rifles would solve the problem. He’s either being naive or disingenuous because if one simply takes his idea to its logical conclusion, much more would be required to rid America of so-called assault weapons.

What the heck is happening at the DOJ?

Either Jeff Sessions is asleep at the wheel, or he’s covering for disgraced crooks like former FBI Director James Comey.
Now, there’s actual PROOF that Sessions’ DOJ is covering up and protecting Comey.

After the House Intelligence Committee released a redacted report last month that contained evidence the FBI had coerced former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn into a guilty plea, now-disgraced former agency Director James Comey acted surprised. But newly released evidence makes it clear his surprise was just an Oscar-worthy farce.

“Did you tell lawmakers that FBI agents didn’t believe former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn was lying intentionally to investigators?” Fox News host Brett Baier asked Comey during an interview that aired April 26.

Baier cited a then-unsubstantiated report that Comey had outright admitted to lawmakers during a private hearing in March of 2017 that he his agents had not thought Flynn was lying.

“I saw that in the media … maybe someone misunderstood something I said. I didn’t believe that. I didn’t say that,” Comey replied. “Once a liar, always a liar.”

The evidence lies in a partially unredacted version of the House Intelligence Committee’s report that was released this week.

“Director Comey testified to the Committee that ‘the agents…discerned no physical indications of deception. They didn’t see any change in posture, in tone, in inflection, in eye contact. They saw nothing that indicated to them that he knew he was lying to them,’” the report reads.

This means Comey shamelessly lied during his appearance on Fox News.

Now compare those statements under oath from Comey with what he told @BretBaier on television last week. It’s extremely difficult to reconcile them. pic.twitter.com/UZqj07rMpp
One big question remains, though: Why was this portion of the report redacted, especially given its paramount importance to ongoing events?

Because of the Department of Justice, which political commentator Sean Davis reported on Twitter had requested that certain parts be redacted for “national security” reasons.

“The most recent unclassified version of the House Intel Committee’s report exposes how DOJ and FBI improperly use redactions to protect people like James Comey from public scrutiny,” he noted in a tweet posted Friday.

He was right.

During an appearance Thursday night on Fox News’ “Tucker Carlson Tonight,” House Intelligence Committee chairman Devin Nunes specifically blasted the FBI and the Department of Justice for their “excessive and sloppy redactions.”

“The excessive and sloppy redactions applied to the House Intelligence Committee’s Russia report deny the American people the opportunity to know and understand the report’s full findings and conclusions,” he said.

So to recap, now only did disgraced former FBI Director James Comey lie to the American people, but the FBI and the Department of Justice seemingly went out of their way to try and keep the attention-seeking huckster’s deception hidden from the public.

Wow! Yet so many among the left act with incredulity when President Donald Trump rightly blasts these clearly corrupt agencies and departments.

It doesn’t take a genius to figure out that something is tremendously wrong with the Department of Justice, starting perhaps with Attorney General Jeff Sessions …

California Rep. Devin Nunes is one of the greatest allies President Trump has in draining the murky DC swamp.

This man is a true patriot and fights for JUSTICE every single day.
Now, Nunes is calling for AG Jeff Sessions to be held in contempt of Congress.

Why?

Because Jeff Sessions is IGNORING a letter and subpoena sent by Nunes to get further information on FISA abuses by FBI and DOJ.
House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes announced Sunday he’s going to push Congress this week to hold Attorney General Jeff Sessions in contempt of Congress.

This extreme step is a culmination of the frustration the California Republican explained he’s felt in dealing with a Justice Department that had stymied his requests for information, during the panel’s government surveillance investigation. In particular the committee has been looking into allegations of Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act surveillance abuses by the Justice Department and FBI that led to spying on former Trump campaign aide Carter Page.

Two weeks ago, Nunes he sent a classified letter to Sessions, which he said was not acknowledged. That was followed by a subpoena last week.

“Then on Thursday we discovered that they are not going to comply with our subpoena,” Nunes said on “Fox and Friends Sunday.”

Asked what he is going to do about it, Nunes said “the only thing left to do is we have to move quickly to hold the attorney general of the United States in contempt and that is what I will press for this week.”
Asked what he is going to do about it, Nunes said “the only thing left to do is we have to move quickly to hold the attorney general of the United States in contempt and that is what I will press for this week.”

The chairman didn’t disclose what exactly he seeks. He called it “very important” information.

Nunes also said he’s not going to take any “excuse” that relates to concerns about national security. “How many times have we heard this argument throughout this investigation?” he asked.

Nunes also conceded that it’s possible Sessions personally is not yet aware of his subpoena, which he said he will probably take to court to try and enforce it. Nunes also said he’s already spoke to FBI Director Christopher Wray about the matter.

Back in February, Nunes’ panel secured the release, without redactions, of a memo which outlined abuses by the FBI and the Justice Department against the Trump campaign, particularly in the write-up and approval of FISA warrant applications to spy on Page.

Soon after, the Democrats on the committee saw the release of their rebuttal memo, albeit with redactions, seeking to add context and push back on some of the assertions the GOP memo made.

More recently, Nunes pressed the DOJ to show the document says prompted the FBI’s investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 election and possible collusion with the Trump campaign. Nunes, ranking member Adam Schiff, D-Calif., and all members of the committee were provided access to the requested document by the April 11 deadline.

In what can only be called insane ramblings, John McCain is now trashing and blaming pro-Trump Sarah Palin, who was his 2012 running mate for his humiliating election loss.

McCain is spending his final days in anger, regret, and bitterness – which seems fitting since that’s what he’s done all along to our America First President.
In his upcoming book, McCain reportedly regrets picking the former Alaska Governor, and wishes instead he’d have picked former Democrat-turned-independent, Joe Lieberman.

Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) said he regrets choosing former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R) to be his running mate during the 2008 presidential campaign.

The New York Times reported on Saturday that McCain, while still defending Palin’s performance, said in his upcoming book, “The Restless Wave: Good Times, Just Causes, Great Fights, and other Appreciations,” that he wishes he had instead selected former Sen. Joseph Lieberman (I-Conn.)

His advisers reportedly had warned against choosing Lieberman, who was once a Democrat, stating that Lieberman’s support of abortion rights could divide Republicans.

“It was sound advice that I could reason for myself,” he writes. “But my gut told me to ignore it and I wish I had.”

In a new HBO documentary, McCain goes on to say that not choosing Lieberman was “another mistake” that he made in his political career.

Lieberman told the Times that he didn’t know McCain felt that way.

“It touched me greatly,” he said of the film.

The Times reported that Lieberman recently visited McCain, 81, at his ranch in Arizona where the senator is recovering from his brain cancer treatment and surgery for an infection.
Recently released excerpts from McCain’s upcoming memoir indicate that he doesn’t know how much time he has left to live while battling the glioblastoma he was diagnosed with last year.

Although the memoir isn’t entirely political, McCain still takes swings at President Trump.

McCain writes that the president seems to care more about “the appearance of toughness” than American values, chiding Trump’s coziness with Russian President Vladimir Putin, in particular.

“The Restless Wave: Good Times, Just Causes, Great Fights, and other Appreciations” will be released May 22.

No one can trigger the left like President Trump, and he certainly did not disappoint with his fiery NRA speech.

President Trump taunted gun-hating liberals by citing a famous Texas saying, “Come and Take IT!”
Dallas, Texas— Cruising through his first term, you’d think President Trump would be a bit more sluggish, a bit more tired, maybe a dash lower on the energy gauge. That’s not the case. In Dallas, the president addressed a packed crowd of Second Amendment supporters at the NRA’s annual meeting. In a wide-ranging speech, the president voiced his support for the Second Amendment, law enforcement, border security, the enforcement of our federal immigration laws, and torched the Russia investigation as a witch-hunt.

He vowed to protect the Second Amendment as long as he and Mr. Pence were in the White House, acknowledging that right now those rights were under siege. Trump said we believe in the rule of law, support for our men and women who work in law enforcement, and respect and pride for our history. We pledge allegiance to that flag and we all proudly stand for the national anthem, words that drew big applause from the crowd. In true fashion, the president said we’re finally putting America first.

He touted his tax cuts, stating just watch how well the GOP does in the 2018 midterms once the effects of it are fully know. Thus far, over 250 companies and over three million workers have benefitted from the legislation. Yet, Trump warned about being complacent. He said the old way was you win the White House, but your party loses the midterm. You win, take a breath, and become complacent. He vowed to never let that happen; we have to win in 2018. He touted the 3.2 million jobs that were created, unemployment dipping below four percent for the first time in this century, and his doubling of African American support. Trump has garnered 22 percent from this slice of America, up from 11 percent. The president gave Kanye West a shout out for this. The rapper tweeted his respect and love for the president, which caused a meltdown on progressive Twitter.

He also ripped the Russia probe quarterbacked by Robert Mueller, saying most of the indictments against former members of his campaign were from charges that predated the 2016 election. The reference to the probe drew boos from the crowd.
“We’re all fighting battles, but I love fighting these battles,” said Trump to a round of applause.

Trump said the Republican majority needed to be expanded this year, probably to help push along his immigration agenda, which has stalled. He vowed to protect out borders, build the wall, end catch and release, and declared that any politician who puts criminal illegal aliens over American citizens should be voted out of office immediately.

The president said that many “good political people” warned him from addressing this event, saying it would be viewed as controversial. He told the crowd his response was “bye, bye gotta get on the plane.” He vowed to always protect the Second Amendment, citing a longtime Texas slogan: come and take it.

It’s something to remember when we all go to the polls this November. The Democrats are primed and ready to go. They have a terrible anti-gun bill waiting in the wings. Let’s not give them a chance to revive it.
