Oprah Stops College Commencement Speech To Make Repulsive Political Statement

Oprah Winfrey, the renowned talk show host, like many other A-list celebrities is known for her very liberal politics. She did campaign for President Obama after all and donate a significant amount of money to his campaign. But what she did recently at a college graduation commencement speech is pissing people off. Not in a good way. Especially given the political nature of her comments that were blatantly obvious in their intent. Perhaps she should instead go to the paid speech circuit like her friends former President Obama and the former Secretary of State and failed presidential nominee Hillary Clinton.

Perez Hilton reported the following on the ordeal

“Oprah Winfrey was the commencement speaker at the University of Southern California’s graduation ceremony for the Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism on Friday afternoon, and in pure Oprah style, she did it larger than life — and with a very important message for new grads.

Speaking for more than twenty minutes to the USC crowd, Oprah touched on a lot of different things, but her focus on politics and living through this moment in our nation’s history — with a special reference to Michelle Obama — should probably be remembered for a while.
In that excerpt from the full speech (which you can watch on video, above), Winfrey said: “This moment in time, this is your time to rise. Even though you can’t go anywhere — you can’t stand in line at Starbucks, you can’t go to a party, you can’t go anywhere without everyone talking about how bad things are, how terrible it is … And this is what I know: The problem is everybody is meeting hysteria with more hysteria, and then we just are all becoming hysterical, and it’s getting worse … If they go low — thank you, Michelle Obama — we go to the polls.””

USA Today reported the following as well,

“Oprah Winfrey is urging 2018 graduates to “be the truth” and “exemplify honesty.” The media mogul passed on these words of wisdom and more during an impassioned commencement speech for the University of Southern California’s Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism Friday, which took aim at fake news.

“Everything around us, including and in particular the Internet and social media, is now being used to erode trust in our institutions, enter fear in our elections and wreak havoc on our infrastructure,” she said. “It enables misinformation to run rampant, attention spans to run short and false stories from phony sites to run circles around major news outlets.” The good news, Winfrey said, is that upcoming leaders, like the graduates in the audience, have the power to change things.

“You will become the new editorial gate-keepers, an ambitious army of truth-seekers who will arm yourselves with the intelligence, with the insights and the facts necessary to strike down deceit,” she said. “You can answer false narratives with real information and you can set the record straight.””

Oprah is not the only one making speeches. Every year A-list celebrities, businessmen and women, entrepreneurs, and successful individuals in every field of work are asked to give speeches to the graduates of the current year. Some are controversial while others are not. But one thing in particular that always causes controversy each year is when celebrities are chosen to give speeches.
Commencement speeches are supposed to be helpful and joyful speeches that prepare the graduates for the world that is to come. Not opportunities for these celebrities to share their political opinions. Because at the end of the day the audience has hundreds of people in it with conservatives, liberals, and independents. Alienating people within the audience is not the point of the commencement speech. The purpose is to bring everyone together.

When we live in a world where entertainers and Hollywood elitists feel the need to always chime in on political issues anyways it makes it foolish to choose these people to give speeches. If they cannot get through an awards ceremony without talking politics or making their award win political why on earth would they get through a commencement speech without getting political? It is a shame that valuable money from the schools that could be going towards decreasing tuition for students who need the opportunity to be there is being wasted on people who give these terrible speeches. Not only should Oprah be ashamed of what she did the university should be as well.

President Trump has conducted and managed his administration with strength and power. While President Obama’s administration was weak and subservient. The American people notice which is exactly why the public loves President Trump more than they love President Obama. Even military officials are taking notice. One former military sniper, in particular, took a shot at President Obama over recent events going on in regards to national security.

Former special operations sniper Nicholas Irving defended President Trump regarding his recent military strategy. Irving served six tours in Afghanistan and Iraq between the years of 2005 and 2010. As a soldier, he k****d 33 enemy combatants which is more than any of the other Third Ranger Regiment. No one has come close to what he has done. Irving was quick to point out that under the Obama administration that the snipers and soldiers lost one important variable that they have now that makes them successful.

The Western Journal reported,

“Asked during a Fox News Channel interview how he views President Donald Trump’s general military leadership compared to prior presidents, Irving said troops can once again count on the element of surprise. He described Trump’s approach as “tougher” and one that is “actually striking fear into the enemy.” In Irving’s opinion, “having that fear in the enemy is one of the first things that the enemy wants to back down from a fight from.”
As a candidate and after his inauguration, Trump has frequently admonished other administrations for announcing planned military operations, something he vowed not to do. “I don’t talk about military response,” the president said in February 2017, according to CNS News. “I don’t say I’m going into Mosul in four months — we’re going to attack Mosul in four months. Then three months later, we’re going to attack Mosul in one month. Next week, we are going to attack Mosul. Meantime, Mosul’s very, very difficult. You know why? Because I don’t talk about military, and I don’t talk about certain other things.”Trump’s vague responses to military matters have made some in the U.S. uneasy. But more importantly, Irving claimed, those indecipherable messages put America’s enemies on edge. “We didn’t really get that from prior presidents,” he said. Former President Barack Obama attracted criticism from Trump and others for discussing more openly the military’s plans for dealing with certain national security threats. According to Irving, that approach presented unnecessary hurdles to the specialized mission he and others in special operations were deployed to complete.”

This policy is something that President Trump has said he wanted to maintain since the very beginning. In 2016 when the presidential election was going on, both primary and general, and he was being asked what he would do in certain critical countries he refused to answer. Some on the opposition argued it was his way of copping out of answering because he did not have the answer. But the then candidate Donald Trump said he would not make public what he would do because he did not want the enemy to know what he was planning on doing. Seems pretty simple and makes a lot of sense and it is exactly the same thing that Irving is stressing.
Irving has been an outspoken individual who has expressed conservative values in the past on the news outlets that he has appeared on. The Daily Caller, Fox News, and the Patriot Report have all interviewed and spoke with him at one point or another regarding various issues. Indicating he is a sought after individual within the media world.

When the National Football League was dealing with the controversy surrounding football players who kneel during the national anthem Irving came out and said he did not agree with kneeling during the national anthem. Something he likely feels very strongly about as a veteran of the military and a former soldier who is highly credentialed. Nobody, especially a soldier, likes it when the flag of America is spit on by people who he has fought to give the right to live as they want and choose to.
However, the mainstream liberal media is not reporting on this and does not interview Irving. It is very clear after his most recent interview why. Because he is an African American conservative man who has expressed support for President Trump’s actions and administration. The Democratic party and the liberal media they dominate want to be able to maintain the tight grip they hold on the votes of minority demographics. If they cannot they will lose the election

Melania Just Honored Military Moms With Special Dress, Outclasses Michelle By A Mile

The American people love First Lady Melania Trump. Especially in comparison to former First Lady Michelle Obama. While quiet, she is classy and dignified and they love that her initiatives focus on something she is passionate about… children. Recently she attended a ceremony to give honors to military wives and moms. What she did while there blew everyone out of the water.

The Patriot Journal reported,

“Her outfits often make international headlines for the messages they convey. She and her incredible stylist team make every effort to craft the perfect look for any occasion. In Saudi Arabia for example, the newspapers celebrated Melania’s fashion choices during her trip. Even though she refused to wear a head covering, as women in Saudi Arabia are required to do, the newspapers there called her look, “classy and conservative.”

Our First Lady honors those she comes in contact with, by being sensitive in the manner in which she dresses. Her clothes are often a sign of respect as well, which is even more important. For instance, her look at a recent event to celebrate military mothers and spouses showed how much she honors and respects America and those who help protect her (and others).
Melania Trump went for a classic look Wednesday when she showed up in a blue coat dress at an event celebrating military mothers and spouses. The first lady paired the double-breasted navy blue dress with a matching navy patent leather belt. ‘Mother’s Day, which is this Sunday, is celebrated just one time per year. I don’t know about all of you, but I think mothers should be celebrated each and every day,’ Trump shared with the group, thanking them for the sacrifice they make every day for our country.”Her dress wasn’t merely stunning, it was a respectful nod to the Dress Blues that service members of the Navy wear. The contrast between this event and events the Obama’s held is striking. The former First Couple only hosted opulent parties with nothing but A-listers and shunned the common man. The Trumps on the other hand host military moms and spouses and shun the A-listers. And yet the left still can’t figure out why they lost. Their condescending treatment of middle America is no different than their condescending treatment towards the First Family.

In fact, high profile liberal designers like Marc Jacobs and Tom Ford joined a list of fashion gurus who said they’d refuse to dress Melania Trump when her husband was elected. Ford reached new levels of pettiness when he stated that he didn’t want to style Melania because, “I’m a Democrat, and voted for Hillary, and [am] very sad and disappointed that she’s not in office.” Considering some of the hideous gowns Tom Ford designed for Michelle Obama, Americans should be thankful he’s staying away from Melania. In fact, the First Lady is becoming a style icon just fine without any help from the left. And her dedication to honor those who are important to this country comes through loud and clear!”

President Trump, his family, his wife the First Lady Melania Trump, and the administration have made it their mission to make military families front and center of the work that they do. While military families were often ignored in the past they certainly are not anymore. Their is a never ending amount of events that the current administration hosts to honor military families and the sacrifice they make.

During the event the President discussed the hardships that military spouses deal with as a result of long deployments. Emphasizing that they often take on more than they bargained for when their families are uprooted and shipped half way around the world. President Trump made sure they were aware of his commitment to all families that serve in the armed forces. Which is why he made sure to mention that Congress with his help implemented the biggest pay raise the military has seen in a very long time.
The U.S. Army said in a press release,

“”[My] administration is totally committed to every family that serves in the United States armed forces,” Trump said. “Earlier this year, I was proud to sign that big pay raise … and I am proud of it.” Noting that the White House is taking action to expand employment opportunities for military spouses, the president said service members’ spouses would be given “treatment like never before,” noting that the unemployment rate among military spouses is more than 90 percent

Trump Just Blindsided Congress In Genius Move, Sends Paul Ryan Scrambling

Washington, D.C. has been in a whirlwind this past week. It seems as though they always are. But this time it is because President Trump now wants Congress and the Senate to repeal close to $1.3 trillion in the spending bill that was recently past. Something he signed into law this past month. However, the media has been negatively reporting on it and Congressional Democrats are none to pleased. It remains to be seen what will happen next and if President Trump’s plan will gain any traction.

The New York Post reported,

“Suffering from signer’s remorse, President Trump now wants Congress to repeal some of the $1.3 trillion spending bill he signed into law last month. “We are looking at an enhanced rescission package,” new White House economic adviser Larry Kudlow confirmed on “Fox News Sunday.”

The massive spending package beefed up domestic and military spending but didn’t include the money that Trump wanted to build his wall on the Mexican border and a legislative fix to protect young undocumented immigrants under the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program. The bipartisan deal was forged in Congress to keep the government funded through September.
Trump and Republicans got an earful from their base about adding to the deficit and not demanding border wall funding. Now, the White House is working with Congress on new legislation to undo some of the spending. “I think the Republican Party on the Hill has finally figured out it’s really not a bad idea to trim some spending,” said Kudlow, White House National Economic Council Director. “Because after all, spending can lead to deficits and spending interferes with the economy. ”

“President Trump is a deregulator and a tax cutter. We want a much more modest government role,” he continued. Trump had initially threatened on Twitter to veto the spending bill but caved into signing the hard-fought bipartisan deal to avoid a government shutdown. Now, the White House and GOP leaders in the House and Senate are drafting a plan to rescind billions of dollars in spending, Axios reported Sunday.

One possible target could be foreign aid. Negotiators set a target of a $60 billion claw back but have acknowledged a smaller goal is more likely to pass the GOP-controlled House and Senate. Congress returns to work this week following a two-week spring break recess.”

One of the biggest concerns that people have about the rescission package is the alleged potential cuts to the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP). Funding allotments in 2017 for the fiscal year were $15.8 billion for the program. While media outlets are saying that $7 billion will be cut from CHIP in reality they are misrepresenting what is going on. The money regarding CHIP is money that was never used from fiscal year 2017. Not money that is allotted for next year and being taken away. The CHIP money under consideration for modification never even touched CHIP and was unused from the previous year.

The Heritage Foundation reported,

“It’s a good first step toward re-establishing fiscal responsibility. Congress should embrace it and quickly adopt the president’s rescission package. Still, the package does nothing to claw back the tens of billions of additional dollars in wasteful spending authorized by the 2018 Omnibus Appropriations Act. Nor is it the answer to the nation’s long-term debt problem.

Congress and the president should work together on additional rescission packages that target 2018 spending and pass a fiscal year 2019 budget that rolls back the latest budget deal and addresses the programs driving the national debt. The president’s rescission package would take back $15 billion in previously provided spending authority. Of that, $7 billion would come from funds provided in 2017 to the Children’s Health Insurance Program, also known as CHIP. No authority was ever actually granted to CHIP to spend that money.

The obvious question: If the money was never going to be spent anyway, then how is it “saving” taxpayers money to rescind it? CHIP rescissions have been abused by Congress as one of the most common budget gimmicks to pay for unrelated spending. By rescinding these funds and returning them to the Treasury, they can’t be used to pay for other spending.
