Years before Draymond Green became an N.B.A. star with the Golden State Warriors, he was known as Day Day, a tough and intense young player from Saginaw, Mich. We visited the recreation center where his no-quit attitude was shaped.
The rise to stardom for many N.B.A. players took root in the childhood courts that shaped them. Friends, relatives and coaches remember the hours of shooting, the toughness, the trash-talking and the drive that set these young players apart.

New Announcement Means We Will Be Stuck With the Obamas for Years to Come

An announcement hit the Internet revealing a multiyear deal the Obamas just struck. It means Americans will be forced to put up with Barack and Michelle for much longer than we had hoped.
The Obamas just might be the most egotistical family in American history, rivaled only by the Clintons. After nearly destroying our country over the course of eight years, Barry and Michelle said, “We’re not done.”
Barack Obama was able to win over voters in 2008 with a vague promise of “hope.” Hope for what? Installing socialism onto America? Despite getting very close, the tyrannical president failed. All his policies, “achievements,” and intentions for our country only made things worse.
Let’s think about that. The first black President was in office when the terrorist group, Black Lives Matter, was founded. This is a group that turns black people against white people and portrays police as villains, and it was created on Barry’s watch. It was largely thanks to his irresponsible comments.
Occupy Wall Street happened under Obama. A pathetic, communist-driven attack on our economic system was all but endorsed by the White House. Funny how they mobilized during a liberal’s administration. Yet despite bickering about corruption in the free market, nothing changed. It seems like Obama wasn’t very quick to take down Wall Street, although he let those protesters destroy much of downtown New York.
We don’t have to get into his immigration policy, which invited drug cartels and rapists into the country. Or his constantly placating to foreign powers, including enemies like Iran. Or his agreeing to join the Paris Climate Accord, which would have cost us 6 million jobs over the next 25 years (he did that without consent from Congress or the American people). And who can forget Obamacare — a program so terrible, it all but ensured Trump’s victory.
Americans made their voices heard when they elected a man who promised to undo every last Obama achievement.
Yet the Obamas can’t take the hint. They are still desperate to cling to their fading fame. While there are still a few obsessed fans in the country, the vast majority of us have moved on. The Obamas haven’t. They insist they stay in the limelight. That includes a multi-million-dollar book deal, constant appearances online and on TV, and now, a major deal that will ensure they appear in your home every night.
Barack Obama and Michelle Obama have entered a multiyear agreement to produce new films and shows with Netflix.
The former president and first lady are determined to produce a diverse mix of content, including a potential scripted series, an unscripted series, a docu-series, documentaries and features, according to a press release from Netflix about the deal.
The streaming service revealed the projects will be available to their 125 million members in 190 countries.
The couple also established Higher Ground Productions, which will serve as the entity under which they will produce content for Netflix.
“One of the simple joys of our time in public service was getting to meet so many fascinating people from all walks of life, and to help them share their experiences with a wider audience,” said former President Obama in a statement. [Source: Fox News]
If there was ever a reason to switch to Hulu, we’ve got it.
I mean, honestly, this is just sad. The Obamas had eight years to ruin our country. Shouldn’t they just retire? But I guess once you get a taste of the spotlight, it’s hard to let go. Much like their buddy Hillary Clinton, the Obamas can’t take the hint.
It’s over. Go away. Let the country forget about you. How can we miss you, if you won’t go away?
This is an ongoing pattern with the former First Family. The Obama library is shaping up to be a disaster. Books and documents will be replaced with a basketball court and recording studio. Because why bother reading when you’re at a library?
Does Barack Obama’s ego know no bounds? When have we ever seen a former president this eager to soak up attention? Even Bubba Clinton laid low for a while; even today, he spends more time speaking overseas than in the U.S.
It’s clear that as the Obamas watch their political legacy get torched by Trump, they need something else to hang their reputations on. The logical choice is to go into movies. Hey, they’ve been producing fiction for years now. It’s a perfect fit! Perhaps they could have spared us eight years of torture and just gone into show business in the first place.
Two proposed laws in Sacramento would help create a better understanding of the scope of the backlog in California — no reliable estimate exists — and require local law enforcement and crime labs to process the kits and submit valid DNA samples to a state database. Both bills deserve support.
The rape kit backlog is, unfortunately, not a new problem, though some jurisdictions have worked hard to address the issue. The Los Angeles Police Department responded to pressure from Human Rights Watch and other advocacy groups a decade ago and worked its way through a backlog of more than 6,000 kits. http://www.latimes.com/opinion/editorials/la-ed-rape-kits-20180521-story.html

Thug Threatens Police With Gun, Gets Hit With Real Consequences

A 21-year-old New York man decided to mock police officers being killed. The young man got caught because he photographed himself doing it, then shared it on Facebook. Now, he’s receiving some unexpected consequences, but he wants to blame those same police officers for ruining his life.
Kelvin Rodriguez, 21, thought it would be a good idea to pose with a firearm next to a Bronx 45th Precinct patrol car as a friend of his spoke to the police officers through the passenger side window of their vehicle. He then thought it would be even more of a genius move to share the photo on Facebook, in essence showing how simple it would be to ambush and murder police officers. Now, he thinks it is the police officer’s fault that he got caught and his new job is in jeopardy.
“I was about to become a teacher’s assistant, but this has messed me up,” Kelvin Rodriguez, 21, told New York Daily News when he spoke to the newspaper at his Westchester Square home. He told the paper that his subsequent arrest could cost him a job he applied for working with children at the Brightside Academy child care center.
“I have all my certificates,” he told the Daily News as he showed his papers that show he is trained to work with children suffering from shaken baby syndrome and how to spot signs of child abuse. “They’re making me out to be a terrorist … I’m not a monster.”
You are not a monster, but to say that you made a ridiculous decision is an understatement. Rodriquez posed for the photo, and it was shared on Facebook on Friday by a user named “Relz DA Blixky.” The photo showed Rodriguez with a gun in his right hand at the side of a police car as another person talked to the officers. “Ya see da blixky … stupid dum n-**as … f**k da 45th,” he wrote in a comment on the photo. “Blixky” is slang for gun.
But it was not the police who were dumb, or as he spelled it “dum,” it was Rodriguez. It also was not “da 45” who got f**ked. Days after the image was shared on Facebook, Rodriguez got a rude awakening.
Police caught and arrested Rodriguez as he was riding his bike the wrong way on a one way street near his home on Frisbee Ave. And, as it happened, Rodriguez was nabbed for more crimes than just the photograph.
“A criminal complaint charged Rodriguez with drug possession, harassment and criminal possession of a weapon. He was released on his own recognizance after an appearance in Bronx Criminal Court,” New York Daily News wrote. “Rodriguez says cops found him with prescription Xanax and Valium.”
You mean the thug who posed with a gun near a police car was also packing drugs? Shocking, isn’t it? It also does not help that Rodriguez has a plethora of other photographs on his Facebook page that show him flashing gang signs, smoking what appears to be marijuana, and holding wads of cash.
“I was just riding my bike on the street and they tackled me. There were five cops on top of me,” he said. “I take medication for anxiety and depression. I am diagnosed with schizophrenia.”
Diagnosed with schizophrenia, brandishing a gun, and carrying marijuana. Yeah, it is the police officers’ fault that you could lose the chance to work with kids. What parent does not want their child being taken care of by a schizophrenic, drug abusing gun carrier?
“There was no threat,” Rodriguez said. “I’m a good kid.”
At 21, you could be a good kid who made a horrid choice because you wanted to look tough for your friends, but this is your first lesson in being an adult. You have to take responsibility for your actions. It is no one’s fault but your own that you posed with a gun near a police car or had drugs on you when you were caught.
Here’s Why We Need a SECOND ‘Special Counsel’ to Investigate DOJ

If ever there was a reason to implement a second special counsel, this is it.
Rep. Ron DeSantis explained that we need a second special counsel because the DOJ can’t “investigate themselves.”
Rep. Ron DeSantis, R-Fla., argued Monday that a second special counsel will ultimately be needed to examine why the Justice Department launched its investigation into President Trump because the department has shown it can’t investigate itself.
“I don’t think that the Justice Department’s going to be able to investigate themselves,” DeSantis said on Fox News. “I think that they’ve resisted our inquiries here in Congress for long enough, and so it’s time that we did have a special counsel.”
DeSantis and other Republicans have been pressing for information about the origins of the Trump investigation for months, and only this week finally won an assurance that White House chief of staff John Kelly would get lawmakers the information they’ve been seeking. Among other things, lawmakers have been pushing for information on whether an informant within the Trump campaign was getting information to the FBI.
“I think John Kelly will be able to get these guys in line,” DeSantis said.
DeSantis said the Justice Department’s Office of Inspector General is not enough, since the IG can’t subpoena witnesses.
“We in the Congress need the information, and you also need the special counsel,” he said.
DeSantis predicted that people would eventually get the full picture of how the FBI came to investigate Trump.
“I think so, and we’re working hard to make sure that that happens,” he said.
