The third night of the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, will formally introduce former President Donald Trump’s running mate, Ohio Sen. J.D. Vance, to the nation. Vance, who will speak last, will be introduced by his wife, Usha Chilukuri Vance. Chilukuri Vance, a trial lawyer from San Diego, California, met Vance while they were both students at Yale Law School. She previously clerked for Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh during his tenure on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit.

Other speakers tonight include Donald Trump Jr., Kimberly Guilfoyle, Peter Navarro, Kellyanne Conway, Governor Doug Burgum (ND), and Governor Greg Abbott (TX). The highlight of the evening will be Vance himself, the author of “Hillbilly Elegy,” who is expected to discuss his background and Trump’s vision for the country.

Earlier today, the Trump-Vance campaign issued a statement trolling the Biden-Harris campaign regarding the scheduling of the vice-presidential debate. Schiff joins nearly two dozen other House and Senate Democrats in calling for Biden to step aside, but acknowledges that the decision is ultimately Biden’s.

Meanwhile, new details have emerged about Saturday’s assassination attempt against Trump. The shooter was reportedly spotted over 30 minutes before he opened fire, and local police counter-snipers, stationed inside the building, saw him with a rangefinder and relayed this information to the command center. Despite raising suspicions hours before the shooting, the shooter was somehow allowed to scale a roof with a rifle.

As the convention continues, there is also a lighter debate in newsrooms about whether it should be “J.D.” or “JD” Vance. The senator’s bestselling book cover lists his name as “J.D.,” but his social media pages list it both ways. Puck News asked the senator himself, who prefers “JD” without the periods. However, old habits die hard, and many will wait to see how it’s written in the White House website biography section.
