His latest remarks about Hitler and the Nazis prove one thing: he knows absolutely nothing about history and should stick to making people laugh rather than attempting to educate anyone. Like so many Hollywood figures, Burr seems to believe that being a comedian somehow qualifies him as an expert on world history, but his ignorant takes only expose how little he actually knows.

The reality is, history is not a punchline, and the atrocities committed by the Nazis are not something to be reduced to comedic misunderstandings or lazy comparisons. When Burr casually inserts historical references into his routines or off-the-cuff interviews without understanding the gravity of what he’s talking about, he only contributes to the growing problem of people treating history as a joke rather than a lesson.

The problem with figures like Burr making uninformed comments is that, unfortunately, there are people who take them seriously. Comedians may get a pass for pushing boundaries, but when they start making ridiculous claims about figures like Hitler without real knowledge, they cross a line. If Burr wants to continue his comedy career, fine—he should just leave history to those who actually study it.
