Jim Carrey has been in the news lately, not for his acting but for his wild attacks on President Donald Trump and his cabinet. It looks like all his virtue signaling has come back to bite him, as the actor faces some bad news.
Some of our younger readers might not remember when Jim Carrey was popular. Honestly, it was a long time ago. Once upon a time, Jim Carrey was the biggest thing in Hollywood. His movies were instant box office hits. His crazy antics and iconic comedic style won audiences over, all across the world.
Boy, have things changed. It’s been a long time since Jim Carrey could capture the attention of audiences. Perhaps it’s because he’s no longer funny. Maybe our culture has moved on. Or, like so many others, he can’t compete with the growing number of entertainment alternatives to movies.
Or, many Americans are turned off by the millionaire’s toxic, liberal views. In recent years, the enigmatic actor has become outspoken in his hatred for the President. The actor has used his “skills” as a painter to insult White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders with a grotesque and sexist painting.
Actor Jim Carrey targeted what appears to be White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders with lewd artwork of her likeness in a tweet slamming her as a “so-called Christian” who lies for a living.
“This is the portrait of a so-called Christian whose only purpose in life is to lie for the wicked. Monstrous!” wrote the Dumb and Dumber star on Saturday in a tweet that included a portrait of what appears to be a grisly looking Sanders. [Source: Breitbart]
Staying classy, Jim. The former funnyman went on to paint more ugly pictures of Mike Pence, Donald Trump, his family, and other allies. The works are not of a well-adjusted person. Honestly, it looks like the work of someone in the looney bin. Being a liberal is one thing. Painting ugly and disgraceful portraits of our country’s leaders? That’s something altogether different.
Jim Carrey is no longer the funny, fun-loving actor he was in the 90’s. He is a bitter, miserable man full of hate. And audiences are staying away.
Last year, Jim Carrey’s The Bad Batch, managed to gross just $181,000 in theaters — and that is the good news. Carrey’s latest movie, the $4.5 million thriller Dark Crimes, just went directly to home video.
…
What a breathtaking implosion of the aging Carrey’s career, a juggernaut that began in 1994 with the come-from-nowhere blockbuster Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, and held on for another 14 years when Carrey’s name could still drive a forgettable piece of junk like Yes Man to $97 million.
…
On top of some awful professional choices, Carrey’s other mistake has been his determination to squander what once appeared to be an endless reservoir of goodwill with the public. America’s funnyman has become a sour, angry, hectoring scold; a bitter has been so out of touch with the common man, back in 2013, the Oscar-less Carrey thought it would be hilarious to mock Oscar-winner Charlton Heston in a Funny or Die music video — attack a man who had already been dead five years. Jim Carrey’s story might be the extreme, but it’s a lesson in what happens when liberal celebrities aggressively push politics. Americans don’t like to be lectured at by super-rich elitists. Carrey has experienced a life few people can imagine, even in America. He was a superstar, who became rich and famous thanks to his talent. But he squandered that fame in order to belittle Americans who dared to support conservative values.
He’s not the only person who’s suffered from that backlash. Numerous celebrities in recent years have tarnished their careers for plunging into the liberal deep end. Once beloved comedians, actors, and musicians are poison to fans because they just can’t keep their politics to themselves.
Meanwhile, comedians like Roseanne Barr and Tim Allen, who are brave enough to support conservatives or the President, are seeing a surge of success. Hmm, maybe there is a connection?
