Her approval numbers are soaring, and Americans want their little girls to grow up as strong, smart, and beautiful as the First Lady, which is why the name “Melania” is topping he hottest U.S. baby name lists!
Americans are truly embracing first lady Melania Trump, and it’s showing in their baby name choices.
The first lady’s name is one of the most increasingly popular names for baby girls in the United States. In fact, “Melania” is ranked fifth on a new list of names that rose in popularity between 2016 and 2017, according to the Social Security Administration.

The name, which is of Spanish and Greek origin and means “black,” skyrocketed a whopping 720 spots on the list of most popular baby girl names from slot number 1,650 in 2016 to slot number 930 last year as more and more people bestowed it upon their children.
The news comes just after a poll this week showed Trump’s approval rating soar 10 percentage points in the just past few months, with 57 percent of respondents holding a favorable view of her compared to just 47 percent in January.
The poll also indicated that a majority of both men and women view the first lady favorably, with 60 percent of men and 54 percent of women saying they have positive opinions of her.
While the name Melania saw a corresponding increase in popularity, President Donald Trump’s first name didn’t fare so well. “Donald” sadly remained in the same spot over the past two years at 488th on the list of boy names in the U.S. in both 2016 and 2017.
In fact, the president’s name reached its peak popularity a full 12 years before he was born, as Donald marked number six on the list back in 1934.
“Emma” and “Liam” were the most used baby girl and boy names in 2017. Other baby girl names that saw a significant rise in popularity last year were “Ensley” and “Oaklynn.”
