LAREDO, Texas—U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Field Operations (OFO) CBP officers at Laredo Port of Entry recently seized a significant load of alleged liquid methamphetamine with a street value in excess of $465,000.
“With the reopening of vehicular traffic at Gateway to the Americas Bridge, our frontline CBP officers continue to maintain their strict vigilance to uphold our border security mission and their application of experience and technology resulted in a significant hard narcotics seizure,” said Port Director Alberto Flores, Laredo Port of Entry.
The seizure occurred on Friday, May 4, when CBP officers at the Gateway to the Americas Bridge referred a 2008 Ford Explorer for a secondary examination. Further examination utilizing a CBP canine and non-intrusive imaging systems resulted in the discovery of 33.25 pounds of liquid methamphetamine concealed with within the vehicle. The methamphetamine has an estimated street value of $465,435.

CBP seized the narcotics, vehicle and referred the case for further investigation by Homeland Security Investigations special agents.

Also, in YUMA, Arizona, Border Patrol agents assigned to the Highway 95 Immigration Checkpoint seized 11 packages of methamphetamine in an attempted smuggling attempt Wednesday.
At approximately 1:25 p.m. Wednesday, agents referred a gray Ford Taurus to secondary inspection after a Border Patrol canine alerted to an odor it was trained to detect. A subsequent search of the vehicle yielded 24.9 pounds of methamphetamine in a post-factory compartment between the back seat and trunk of the vehicle. The narcotics have a street value of $74,700.

A 46-year-old female, a United States citizen from Las Vegas, Nevada, was arrested in the incident.
