Diyala, IRAQ – Iraqi’s top security forces have reportedly arrested Islamic State’s (ISIS) chief explosives expert in Diyala province, a security source was quoted saying on Thursday.

Alsumaria News quoted the source saying that a security operation in Diyala resulted in the arrest of a the Islamic State’s “IED planting official”, nicknamed “Abu Yassin”, having received intelligence information about his presence at a house in Khanaqin town.

Five companions were arrested along with him, according to the security source, who explained that Abu Yassin was behind several bombings that occurred recently in Diyala, Iraqi News reports.

Meanwhile AFF reported that one policeman was killed and three others were wounded as a bomb attack targeted their police vehicle in western Anbar, a security source was quoted as saying.
Speaking to Basnews website on Monday, the source said, “An explosive charge targeted a police vehicle carrying policemen between Rawa and Anah districts, west of Anbar.”

“The blast left a policeman killed and three others wounded,” the source said, adding that the troops were on a mission to secure agricultural lands and villages between Rawa and Anah districts, Iraqi News reported.

He pointed out the bomb is believed to be left over by ISIS militants.

“Security forces immediately rushed to the blast site and started combing the area in search for other bombs on site,” he noted.

A total of 68 Iraqis were killed and another 122 injured in acts of terrorism, violence and armed conflict in Iraq in April, according to casualty figures recorded by the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI).

As many as 3,298 civilians were killed and 4,781 others were wounded in 2017, excluding Anbar civilian casualty figures for November and December, which are not available, UNAMI said in a report in December.

Islamic State continues to launch sporadic attacks across Iraq against troops. Security reports indicate that the militant group still poses threat against stability in the country.

Thousands of Islamic State militants as well as Iraqi civilians were killed since the government campaign, backed by paramilitary troops and the coalition was launched in October 2016 to fight the militant group, which declared a self-styled “caliphate” from Mosul in June 2014.

I can’t help but come to the conclusion that there will never be peace in that part of the world. It’s like these people are just insane and violent and nothing will ever change that.

At least we have all but wiped out ISIS but the violence will continue nevertheless.

What are these people fighting over? It’s all just sand. Figure out who gets how much sand and get over it.

God Bless.
