Except the freemasons do not have their origin with the Templar. That is only the mythology. I believe the reason for the Templar mythology is the Jesuits. The Society of Jesus were likely responsible for the creation of Scottish Rite Freemasonry as part of the Jacobite movement to get the catholic Scottish Stuart tyrants back on the English Throne. This is basically admitted by many freemasons.
