President Trump loves our military and he shows it at every available turn. It’s just simply inspiring. He delivered one heck of a sendoff in a patriotic commencement speech during Friday’s U.S. Naval Academy graduation, declaring “America is back” and the crowd went wild. Just as they should. And the midshipmen were all smiles and they were stoked. It was what we have missed for years here in America – a chance to love our warriors for what they do and to be proud of our military once again.
“Prosperity is booming at home. Our economy is the strongest it’s ever been, and our country has regained the respect that we used to have long ago abroad,” he said. “Yes, they’re respecting us again. Yes, America is back.” Yes, she is and she is bigger and stronger and greater than ever with President Trump at the helm.
The President then paused before continuing in order to allow the audience’s applause to d*e down. They really, really loved him. President Trump was addressing 1,042 newly commissioned ensigns and second lieutenants at the time and made sure to highlight his administration’s efforts to bolster the military via an increased federal budget and encouraged the service members to fight to win.
“I could make this commencement address — which is a great honor for me — and immediately leave and wave goodbye.”
“Or, I could stay and shake hands with just the top 100.”
“Or I could stay for hours and shake hands with 1,100 and something.”
“What should I do? What should I do?” Trump asked the cheering crowd.
“I’ll stay, I’ll stay!”
President Trump, 71, stood in the hot sun for over 90 minutes and did indeed shake every hand of the 1,042 graduating midshipmen. That’s impressive. That’s a leader.
The Independent Journal Review reported:
“To the class of 2018, I do say, strive for excellence, live for adventure, think big, dream bigger, push further, sail faster, fly higher, and never, ever stop reaching for greatness,” he said. “Never stop reaching for the stars.”
“You know you’re up to the task,” he continued. “You know you will make us proud. We know that glory will be yours because you are winners. You are warriors. You are fighters. You are champions. And you will lead us only to victory.” How great is that? And everything that President Trump said of these cadets applies to him as well.
“Anchor’s away!” the President ended his address.
Trump repeatedly knocked former President Obama as he spoke to the graduating midshipmen. That’s well earned and the perfect place to do so given how Obama treated our military. “In case you haven’t noticed, we have become a lot stronger lately. A lot. We are not going to apologize for America. We are going to stand up for America. No more apologies,” Trump told the crowd. “We are respected again — I can tell you that,” he said. “A growing number used their platforms to denigrate America’s incredible heritage, challenge America’s sovereignty and weaken America’s pride,” he said.
Trump has no patience for apologizing and appeasement which was Obama’s go-to policy. This President kneels before no one. The President spoke about the “cynics and critics who try to tear down America,” noting that the “problem grew worse” in recent years. Trump told graduates at the U.S. Naval Academy on Friday that they are joining “the greatest fighting force for peace, justice and freedom in the history of the world,” adding that the world is “respecting us again.”
You would think that everyone would have loved the speech, but there were those on the left and the right that picked it apart. Just disgraceful and unpatriotic. The media was just full of awful things to say about the President before and after his speech. And they wonder why Americans hate and distrust the media so much.
Personally, I loved the whole speech. President Trump started out in grand fashion: “I want to recognize the entire brigade for a tremendous year. This has been a spectacular year for you. I have heard all about your achievements. And a very special recognition for the midshipmen fourth class, you are plebs no more. To all of the distinguished faculty and staff, to the local sponsor families, and most importantly, to the parents and grandparents and family members who have helped our graduates reached this joyous hour, today is your incredible achievement also. They would have never made it without you, know this. I want to thank the midshipmen and your families, and thank you. America thanks you more than anybody. You have done a spectacular job. Thank you very much.”
