Donald Trump is a billionaire businessman, a real estate mogul, and a reality television star. He ascended to the highest office in the land when he became President of the United States. But what many did not know was that among Trump’s gifts is his seemingly psychic ability. Time after time, when the doubters scoff at his predictions, he is proven to be correct, and that happened again on Monday.
It was on Monday when the highest ranking law enforcement officer in the state of New York, Attorney General Eric T. Schneiderman, was forced to resign in disgrace hours after being accused by four women of physical abuse in a story published in The New Yorker.
“It’s been my great honor and privilege to serve as attorney general for the people of the State of New York,” Schneiderman said in a statement, The New York Times reported. “In the last several hours, serious allegations, which I strongly contest, have been made against me.
“While these allegations are unrelated to my professional conduct or the operations of the office, they will effectively prevent me from leading the office’s work at this critical time. I, therefore, resign my office, effective at the close of business on May 8, 2018,” he said.
This is the same Schneiderman who became a leading force in the resistance against President Trump and who positioned himself as a champion of the #MeToo movement. This is the same Schneiderman who Politico said could be the man to destroy President Trump and who fought against the president for five years over Trump University.
And this is the same attorney general who said the “greatest threat” to New Yorkers was the president not protecting net neutrality. “We try and protect New Yorkers from those who would do them harm,” he told The Times in a December 2017 interview. “The biggest threat to New Yorkers right now is the federal government, so we’re responding to it.”
But as it happened, it was Schneiderman who was the biggest threat to New Yorkers, particularly women that he came in contact with. Michelle Manning Barish and Tanya Selvaratnam, two of his accusers, said that he repeatedly choked and hit them, while another unnamed woman, an attorney, said he slapped her across the face. Another woman said he behaved the same way with her, according to The New Yorker.
Schneiderman initially said that his interactions with the women were the consensual acting out of sexual fantasies. “In the privacy of intimate relationships, I have engaged in role-playing and other consensual sexual activity. I have not assaulted anyone. I have never engaged in nonconsensual sex, which is a line I would not cross,” he said.
But after New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo condemned him, the writing was on the wall. “My personal opinion is that, given the damning pattern of facts and corroboration laid out in the article, I do not believe it is possible for Eric Schneiderman to continue to serve as attorney general,” the governor said.
Senator Kirsten Gillibrand agreed in a statement to the media. “The violent actions described by multiple women in this story are abhorrent,” the New York senator said. “Based on this extensive and serious reporting, I do not believe that Eric Schneiderman should continue to serve as attorney general.
What was most astonishing was what President Trump said in September of 2013 in a tweet. “Weiner is gone, Spitzer is gone – next will be lightweight A.G. Eric Schneiderman. Is he a crook? Wait and see, worse than Spitzer or Weiner,” he said.
It’s unbelievable. It’s not the first prediction the president has made that no one believed, which later was found to be true. This is similar to when he said his campaign was spied on by the administration of former President Barack Obama. And who can forget when he predicted he would win the presidency when no one else believed him? When he is done with his time in office, he might want to consider starting his own psychic friends network.
