Has-been comedian Michelle Wolf became even more famous after this week much in the same way that the Bubonic Plague is famous. Wolf was the headliner for the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, where she mercilessly mocked White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders’ appearance in a junior high “mean girl” tirade between jokes about how, when it comes to abortion, one should not “knock it ’til you try it.”
A significant backlash against the correspondents’ dinner was prompted over Wolf’s profanity-laced routine that targeted Sanders. “I actually really like Sarah. I think she’s very resourceful,” the former “Daily Show” writer said. “She burns facts and then she uses that ash to create a perfect smoky eye. Maybe she’s born with it, maybe it’s lies. It’s probably lies.”
“I’m never really sure what to call Sarah Huckabee Sanders,” the comedian continued. “Is it Sarah Sanders? Is it Sarah Huckabee Sanders? Is it Cousin Huckabee? Is it Auntie Huckabee Sanders? Like, what’s Uncle Tom but for white women who disappoint other white women?”
People continue to distance themselves from Wolf after her less than spectacular performance, including the head of the White House Correspondents’ Association. Margaret Talev, the WHCA president, said in a statement – “Last night’s program was meant to offer a unifying message about our common commitment to a vigorous and free press while honoring civility, great reporting and scholarship winners, not to divide people. Unfortunately, the entertainer’s monologue was not in the spirit of that mission.”
Actor James Woods is not known for mincing words or holding his tongue. As one of very few actors in Hollywood with conservative opinions, he took to Twitter as is his custom to light Taley up for what he clearly viewed as a stunning display of hypocrisy from the left.
Taley also works as a reporter for Bloomberg News, continued stating – “My aim, and the way I sought to put together the program, was to build a spirit of unity in that room, to rally around journalism, and why it’s important,” Talev said, during an interview with CNN’s “Reliable Sources,” of the organization’s annual glitzy dinner held in Washington. “My only regret is that to some extent, those 15 minutes are now defining four hours of what was a really wonderful, unifying night. And I don’t want the cause of unity to be undercut,” Talev stated in reference to Wolf’s comedic attempts.
President Donald Trump skipped the annual White House Correspondents’ Dinner, and Sanders was attending in his stead. The president’s message about not attending the dinner was “very clear,” where President Trump states he was elected to work for the American people and speak directly to them and not to “hobnob with the liberal media.”
Actor James Woods is not known for mincing words or holding his tongue. As one of very few actors in Hollywood with conservative opinions, known for venting his spleen on Twitter occasionally he took to Twitter as is his custom to light Taley up for what he clearly viewed as a stunning display of hypocrisy from the left. Woods began by responding to a Matt Drudge tweet wondering why neither Sanders nor Kellyanne Conway walked out of the “festivities.”
Woods then went after Taley and her “apology” clearly not buying this “too little, too late” routine. Woods even went so far as to call for Taley to be fired, stating – “You would regret it more if someone were to attack your looks and demean your achievements. The way you #Democrats attack women of achievement is abominable. Shame on you. You and your event are headed for the dustbin of history. Save your breath for the Unemployment Office.”
Woods predicts that Wolf’s clanging, misogynist routine attacking Sanders would be back to bite the left come election time and stating it would be great campaign fodder for the GOP. He tweeted of the vile and repugnant message from Wolf – “Put this clip in every campaign video for Republican women running for office in #2018. It’s a gift from heaven.
