Leftists like Barack Obama and the Clintons always make the same fundamental error:
They view our military as agents of social change instead of a well-armed and trained group of warriors whose job it is to defend the United States.
These views lead in different directions, with those on the Left sending our military on missions they were never intended to pursue, as well as diminishing their abilities to be an aggressive force for peace.
General Mattis, our Secretary of Defense, understands the situation perfectly.
Consequently he has instructed our generals to ditch Mr. Obama’s failed policy regarding ISIS terrorists and simply do their jobs, which is to annihilate ISIS.
Now – FINALLY – we are going to get results.

“‘When Secretary Mattis looked at our anti-ISIS campaign, he concluded that in some instances we were essentially just pushing the enemy from one location to another,’ [Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General] Dunford explained.
‘He asked me and the military chain-of-command to make a conscious effort not to allow ISIS fighters to just flee from one location to another, but rather to deliberately seek to ‘annihilate” the enemy,’ he continued.”
The Pentagon has yet to reveal a new strategy to defeat ISIS but Mattis has heavily emphasized his focus on ‘annihilation’ in recent months.”
We are either there to eliminate our enemies, or we need to come home.
Just chasing them around like some schoolyard game was so typical of the sort of cowardly, non-approach Mr. Obama would have pursued.
This dangerous and stupid policy of Mr. Obama’s has now ended.
“‘We have already shifted from attrition tactics where we shove them from one position to another in Iraq and Syria, to annihilation tactics where we surround them.
Our intention is that the foreign fighters do not survive the fight to return home to North Africa, to Europe, to America, to Asia, to Africa.
We’re not going to allow them to do so. We’re going to stop them there and take apart the caliphate,’ Mattis declared in a late May interview with CBSNews.”
Not only does this new policy attack the real problem, it will also demoralize our opposition.
Even fanatical Islamist terrorists commit acts of violence for a purpose. Take away their chances of success, and they are left as men unable to achieve their goals.
