The Trumps attended their first social gathering at the capital last night for the Ford’s Theatre Gala just one day after a series of terrorist attacks swept London. There was a bit of a somber mood going into the celebration knowing what had just unfolded that hit close to home. As the First Lady stepped out to head to the event and saw what was right outside, she stunned everyone with what she did that was caught on camera.
The presidential pair is fresh off an overseas trip that was in part meant to promote peace and unity. They returned home not long before terrorism struck England again, proving that refugee programs only bring in death and destruction. In the midst of this tragedy, Donald and Melania stepped out to get into their car to take them to the gala when paparazzi standing by caught something incredible about our first lady just before the pair took the stage and denounced the cowardly acts that took place on London Bridge Saturday night.
The Daily Mail reports:
“The Sunday night black-tie event raises money for Ford’s Theatre, the historic venue where President Abraham Lincoln was assassinated.”
“The reception is the President’s first big outing amid the city’s social and philanthropic crowd and marks the return of a tradition dating back to the Carter administration, so he and Melania made sure to dress for the occasion.”
Exuding effortless grace and class, Melania looked impeccable in a blush silk charmeuse gown created by Filipino designer Monique Lhuillier. She was magnificent and peaceful but seemed that her heart was with the people in London who were mourning the lives lost to terrorism. She saw the swarm of cameras there and rather than making it about herself, she sweetly, yet solemnly carried on to her ride waiting outside to take her to the event. However, there was something more to what she wore than meets the eye.
Outside the fact that many designers refuse to dress the First Lady in a show of resistance against her, one of the few whose designs she graces was this special one last night. We typically see Melania in Dolce and Gabbana who famously came forward to support her in the midst of all the designer boycott. Last night, she was in a Filipino designer’s dress which is ironic considering the island country has recently been under Islamic State attack and the country’s president declared Marshal Law in one town hit particularly hard with terror.
It may not have been intentional but perhaps it sent a hidden message of support to terrorism victims none the less, in the wake of another attack. Melania glowed in this shimmering gown and looked peaceful and elegant on stage while wearing it, as stood next to the president who spoke out against this senseless artocitiy in London. Trump took a hard line on terrorism, rather than tip-toeing around the issued like the world came to expect from his predecessor.
Melania wasn’t the only one who stunned at the event last night, First Daughter Ivanka did as well in her $5,500 J Mendel deep red tea-length gown. She arrived at the gala with her husband Jared Kushner and was breathtakingly gorgeous in her own right. She too exudes a sense a class and elegance without trying too hard. This impeccable style is something we haven’t seen in the White House for the past eight years, which is more important than some Americans realize.
While some are quick to criticize the conversation about bringing attention to the way the Trump women look and what they wear, appearance is important on the world stage for reasons that are vain. Other cultures put priority on how First Families carry themselves to as a means of assessing thier level of respect. When the family of one of the most powerful countries in the world doesn’t dress or act the part, the entire country isn’t represented well and America is made into a mockery.
If the warm reception at every country the Trumps visited on their first overseas trip is any indicator, the winds of change and reputation swept in with the new Commander-in-Chief. Melania and Ivanka were well received by world leaders who could take them seriously because of how they carried themselves.
