President Donald Trump hosted the National Day of Prayer event at the White House on Thursday, demonstrating once again that one of his top priorities is putting faith back into the top levels of the US government. Trump spoke for about 15 minutes in the Rose Garden, but as he was about to wrap up his remarks, a mouthy liberal reporter interrupted with a salacious allegation.
President Trump outlined steps being taken by his administration to safeguard religious freedom, saying, “Faith has shaped our families, and it’s shaped our communities. It’s inspired our commitment to charity and our defense of liberty, and faith has forged the identity and the destiny of this great nation that we all love.”
To commemorate the National Day of Prayer this year, the president did something very special: He signed an executive order establishing a faith-based government office called the White House Faith and Opportunity Initiative which will focus on protecting religious freedom in America and ensuring that “the faith-based and community organizations that form the bedrock of our society have strong advocates in the White House and throughout the federal government.”
He signed an executive order creating a “White House Faith and Opportunity Initiative” that will, among other things, make recommendations on policies that affect faith-based and community programs. President Trump said the new office will help ensure such groups have “equal access” to government money and the “equal right to exercise their deeply held beliefs.” [Source: FOX6 Now]
“We take this step because we know, that in solving the many, many problems and our great challenges, faith is more powerful than government, and nothing is more powerful than God,” said Trump.
But then, as the president concluded the ceremony and mingled with guests on his way back to the Oval Office, a loud-mouthed reporter decided to interrupt in order to bring up the Stormy Daniels accusations. “Why are you changing your story on Stormy Daniels?” shouted the reporter.
The remark did not go over well with attendees of the event, one of whom promptly admonished the reporter. “Shame on you!” said the audience member. “Yeah, this is a prayer meeting. Please? Can we finish the prayer meeting, please? I’m just asking you nicely.”
President Trump welcomed a diverse range of religious leaders to the White House for the National Day of Prayer Thursday. The event was uplifting – but the behavior of a reporter at the end of the ceremony disgusted the guests.
Trump spoke about religious persecution and the importance of faith in his remarks. Trump welcomed a one-time inmate turned Christian convert, and the man who arrested him, onstage to share a story of faith and forgiveness. The president, surrounded by religious leaders of all faith backgrounds, then signed an official White House Faith Initiative.
As the president was leaving the event, an unidentified reporter screamed “What about Stormy Daniels?” Stormy Daniels is a porn star who allegedly had an affair with Trump. The two are embroiled in legal battles over alleged payments Trump’s attorney made to her and the president’s knowledge of the payment. [Source: The Daily Caller]
Perhaps this insolent reporter was incensed by the strong stand President Donald Trump took for Christian values on Thursday and decided to do something to derail the otherwise beautiful event. Whatever the case, the so-called “journalist” was heavily ridiculed by others in attendance who did not take kindly to the Stormy Daniels comment.
In 2016, we were looking to elect a president, not a pastor. If this were one of the Clintons, the media would be working overtime to bury the story, not bringing it up out of context at a National Day of Prayer event. Is nothing sacred anymore?
