The liberal push to prosecute President Trump thought that it finally had some traction when they heard that former FBI Director James Comey had a problem with him. Liberals everywhere have been biting their nails down to nubs, waiting to see what will take down the business giant. While their arguments have been almost universally boiled down to “we just don’t like him,” they get points for persistence. There were a couple of false starts during Comey’s hearing before the Senate, and hopes were high among the Democratic party, but those hopes were crushed, once again, when word got out that the government wouldn’t be put into a tailspin by impeaching a President who’s done nothing wrong. The official statement came from some of the President’s army of attorneys. Via ValueBit News: Jay Sekulow, one of the attorneys representing President Donald Trump, told several Sunday morning news shows that Trump “is not under investigation.” Sekulow, who is also Chief Counsel of the American Center for Law & Justice (ACLJ), appeared on both NBC News’ Meet the Press and CNN’s State of the Union to counter mainstream media reports that the president is officially under investigation by Special Counsel Robert Mueller for obstruction of justice. On Friday, the president tweeted: “I am being investigated for firing the FBI Director by the man who told me to fire the FBI Director! Witch Hunt.”
The media widely interpreted that statement as an admission that Trump was under investigation for obstruction of justice for firing Comey. But Sekulow told the Sunday shows that Trump was referring only to claims made by the Washington Post that he was under investigation, and that he had no reason to believe he was actually being investigated. Sekulow repeated that message on CNN, telling host Jake Tapper: “Let me be clear: The president is not under investigation … The president is not the subject or target of an investigation.” He also called the Post story a “fake report.” It’s unfortunate that so many in our country are devoting so much time and effort toward ostracizing our President. And not just the general population; it seems that there’s a lot of taxpayer dollars going toward salaries of people who are doing nothing but trying to oust a sitting President. While that may be what their constituents want, I’m not sure, it’s not how the government is supposed to work. Many Republicans and Democrats alike were concerned when President Trump won the Republican nomination that if he won he’d be somehow too inexperienced to do the job properly. However, current events would lead one to believe that his lack of political entanglements are the only thing that is keeping him out of the grasp of the Democratic political hit men (and possibly the regular hit men as well). So maybe this is how it goes for the rest of his term; maybe “the resistance” will fight to the end, and the President will never be left to do his job in peace. But they can just keep tossing out the accusations, and he’ll have to keep knocking them down. If they want to impede their own agendas’ progress by putting all of their energy into slowing him down, that’s their call. You’d think that these teams would realize at some point that they’re supposed to be working for the same goal; the goal of a better future for America (or in other words to “make America great again). But at least for now, I guess there is no joy in Mudville, for mighty Comey has struck out.
