Former President Barrack Obama’s so-called right-hand man seemed like he just threw every American under the bus in front of the entire world after what he said in a keynote address during New York University Abu Dhabi’s commencement speech. His main three reasons for throwing people under the proverbial bus were climate change, income inequality, and violence. He claimed that world governments shouldn’t focus on these problems alone and they should team up to solve them. However, it seemed more like he was really just saying that America can’t handle its own problems.
His name is John Kerry, the former secretary of State, and he’s telling people that we can’t figure out our own problems by closing our borders and focusing on our nation. Kerry spoke horribly about the Americans as he claimed “we won’t win” even though Americans can and will triumph at everything they put their mind to. Most people would agree that Kerry is completely wrong and that Americans, as resilient and brilliant as they are, can easily solve every problem they work at if they use common sense and logic.
It also appears as though Kerry might be angry at what President Trump is doing as he undoes things like the Paris Climate accord and Iran Nuclear deal that Kerry had part of.
Kerry’s comments about countries and nations “going it alone” sure seemed like a cry of jealousy from Kerry, but that’s perhaps because he’s losing relevance in politics.
The Hill reported more on Kerry’s words that left many Americans in disagreement: “Former Secretary of State John Kerry on Sunday warned nations against “going it alone” in working to address global problems like climate change, income inequality and violence.
In a keynote address at New York University Abu Dhabi’s commencement ceremony, Kerry argued that the world has become too interconnected for governments to attempt to isolate themselves.
“We won’t win, any of us, ultimately, by retreating within our borders, by focusing on our own nations only, or by going it alone,” Kerry said.
Kerry, who served as secretary of State under former President Obama, has seen some of his most prominent accomplishments undone by the current administration.
Kerry helped broker the Paris climate accord and the Iran nuclear deal, both of which President Trump has pulled the U.S. out of. Trump reasoned that the deals did not serve American interests.
Though Kerry did not mention Trump by name, his speech focused on the political rhetoric being used in the U.S. and the pitfalls of isolationism.
Kerry said that U.S. politics has “become almost all accusatory and all bombastic,” and that some lawmakers struggle to reach consensus on complex issues because they “can’t even agree on what the facts are.”
He implored graduates on Sunday to “recognize the importance of truth” and to engage with the world.
“No matter how big or how many the challenges, I want you to leave here today confident about our ability to win that future,” Kerry said.
“Every single problem we face is created by human choices,” he said. “And to the best of my knowledge those problems can also be solved by human choices.”
Kerry’s remarks were shown via livestream on the university’s website.
Journalists were not allowed to film his address. The Associated Press reported that it was the school’s decision, which was made just before the event began.”
John Kerry appears to be clawing at every chance to remain relevant in politics, but he surely isn’t doing a good job as he trashes the American population who feel as though President Donald Trump is doing a fine job.
How can Americans fix their problems? That answer certainly does not include an open-border policy because that would add more people to the problems that we already have, not to mention cost the taxpayers millions in funding. One look at Germany, Sweden, and London could tell anyone that open border policies were not a very good idea as they’ve experienced crime and their conditions have worsened.
If America acted like that, then more of the country could resemble the Skid Row areas located in California and several other locations in the country that have fallen apart due to drug use, homelessness, and the politicians not taking care of their local areas.
There’s a lot that Americans can do to begin fixing big problems. The desire to fix it comes from within and by utilizing logic and common sense.
John Kerry needs to understand that we can fix everything if we want to. The question is this – do people want to? Take a look at politicians and the level of poverty in certain areas and think about who is making change and who isn’t.
