Following Mueller’s FBI raid on Trump’s personal attorney Michael Cohen, lawyer Alan Dershowitz has been huddling with Trump at the White House, offering his input and was also invited to dine with the president.

These meetings have now sparked speculation that Dershowitz could possibly be brought onto Trump’s legal team.
Lawyer Alan Dershowitz spent time at the White House on Tuesday after heavily criticizing the FBI’s decision to seize documents from the office of Trump’s personal lawyer Michael Cohen.

“Some news – Dershowitz has been at the White House for part of today as Trump seeks his input, and he’s supposed to have dinner with the president tonight, per WH sources,” New York Times reporter Maggie Haberman, who was first to report the meeting, said on Twitter Tuesday.
Dershowitz debunked speculation surrounding his meeting with the president during a Fox News interview Tuesday night, saying the meeting was prearranged and regarded the ongoing peace process in the Middle East.
“I was scheduled to meet with staff members at the White House for a period of time,” Dershowitz said on “Hannity.”

“That was the primary focus of the meeting. It was nice. I was invited to have dinner with the president and a few other people. We discussed the Middle East and a range of subjects,” he added.

The FBI raided Cohen’s office on Monday, seizing emails and records related to the $130,000 payment made to adult film star Stormy Daniels in exchange for her silence on her alleged affair with Trump more than a decade ago.

During a prior appearance on Fox News, Dershowitz reacted to the raid, calling it a “dangerous day” for “lawyer-client relations.”

“If this were Hillary Clinton [having her lawyer’s office raided], the ACLU would be on every TV station in America jumping up and down,” he said. “The deafening silence of the ACLU and civil libertarians about the intrusion into the lawyer-client confidentiality is really appalling.”

Dershowitz, a Harvard law professor emeritus, has also been a vocal critic of Robert Mueller’s investigation into the Trump campaign.
