Pennsylvania state authorities have arrested a 38-year-old man they said set fire to the governor’s mansion while Gov. Josh Shapiro and his family slept, forcing them to evacuate early Sunday before the blaze severely damaged part of the building.

During a news briefing outside the fire-scarred mansion, Shapiro, a Democrat, said that the FBI was assisting in the investigation. He also noted that the attack had occurred on the first night of Passover, one of the holiest Jewish holidays. #Pennsylvania #JoshShapiro

Two Russian ballistic missiles slammed into a bustling city center in northeastern Ukraine on Sunday morning, officials said, killing at least 34 people in what appeared to be the deadliest attack against civilians this year. Officials said streets the were crowded with civilians out enjoying Palm Sunday, a Christian celebration popular in Ukraine, when the missiles hit.

The midmorning strike on the city of Sumy was the latest in a string of intensifying Russian attacks on urban centers in Ukraine that have inflicted heavy civilian casualties as the Trump administration pushes for a cease-fire.

Six people were killed when a sightseeing helicopter tumbled out of the sky on Thursday and plunged into the Hudson River just off Jersey City, New Jersey, across from Manhattan.
