Fani Willis has been disqualified by the Georgia Court of Appeals from prosecuting the election interference case against former President Donald Trump, marking another legal victory for him in what some describe as lawfare cases. Despite being recently reelected, Willis has spent significant time and resources attempting to maintain her role in this high-profile case. Critics argue that her persistence in this matter has undermined her office and failed to serve the public interest. Her dedication to this role has been seen as so intense that she risked suspending prosecution and potentially jeopardizing the case itself.

Fulton County Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee had previously criticized Willis for her decisions, noting an “appearance of impropriety.” He suggested she withdraw from the case, which she did not do, leading to the appeal that resulted in her disqualification.

The appellate court’s decision to disqualify Willis was described as rare, highlighting that while an appearance of impropriety typically isn’t enough for disqualification, in this instance, it was the only way to restore public trust in the integrity of the legal proceedings.

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) has confirmed that a shipment containing radioactive material was lost earlier this month, raising concerns about public safety and intensifying speculation about recent drone activity in New Jersey. The missing material, identified as a Ge-68 pin source, was manufactured by Eckert & Ziegler and reported lost by its licensee on December 3, 2024. Originally shipped for disposal, the container arrived at its destination both damaged and empty, prompting an immediate investigation.

Officer Lew, a prominent political commentator, drew attention to the NRC event report while reviewing regulatory alerts, linking the incident to recent drone sightings in the region. “While looking at the Nuclear Regulatory Commission Alerts, I can confirm that there is radioactive material that has gone missing on Dec 2nd, 2024, out of New Jersey. This might be the reason for the drones… just speculation at this point,” Lew posted online.

The NRC report classified the incident as involving material “Less than IAEA Category 3,” which generally indicates a relatively low level of radioactive risk. According to the International Atomic Energy Agency’s guidelines, Category 3 and lower sources contain small amounts of radioactive material. While unlikely to cause permanent injury, prolonged exposure without shielding could result in temporary harm. Instruments such as moisture density gauges or thickness gauges typically fall within this classification, and although incidents involving these sources are rare, mishandling them poses risks.

The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) confirmed that the Ge-68 pin source had an approximate activity of 0.267 mCi (millicuries) at the time of loss. A claim has been filed with the shipper, and the licensee has committed to submitting a full report within 30 days if the material remains unaccounted for. This report will outline the root cause of the loss and propose corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.

The timing of the incident has fueled speculation surrounding mysterious drone activity recently reported over New Jersey. While no official connection has been established, concerns persist about potential attempts to intercept or locate the missing radioactive material.
