The Democrats’ Combined Insanity With Profound Stupidity in Sticking With A Demented Candidate

Harris’s path to the nomination hinges on Biden’s endorsement. If she secures his backing, it is expected that prominent Democratic figures such as the Obamas and Clintons would follow suit. Any challenge to Harris would then be perceived as a challenge to the sitting president and two former presidents, significantly raising the stakes.

With Biden’s endorsement, the only way for a top-tier Democrat to challenge Harris would be to risk their political future by opposing the first female vice president, who is also the first Black and South Asian vice president. This creates a formidable barrier for any potential challengers.

Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-Miss.), who chaired the House Jan. 6 committee, emphasized Harris’s strength, stating, “You can’t say Biden has done a good job without saying she’s done a good job.” He further noted that sidelining Harris would be disastrous for the party.

However, the transition may not happen immediately. On Wednesday, Biden surprised and frustrated many influential Democrats by reaffirming his commitment to running in the upcoming election during an interview with ABC’s George Stephanopoulos, which aired as a prime-time special.

In response to a new poll indicating he is losing ground to former President Donald Trump and speculation about his potential resignation, the 81-year-old president joined Harris on a campaign all-staff call, insisting, “No one’s pushing me out … I’m not leaving.”

Despite Biden’s confidence, his advisors have long believed that Trump would be more likely to defeat Harris due to concerns about her political skills and appeal beyond the liberal base. However, recent polls indicate that Harris is performing comparably to Biden in hypothetical match-ups against Trump.

In some cases, Harris is doing better. A CNN post-debate poll found Harris in a statistical tie with Trump, with slightly stronger support than Biden among women (50% of female voters back Harris over Trump vs. 44% for Biden) and independents (43% Harris vs. 34% Biden).

As the situation develops, Harris’s potential candidacy remains a focal point of Democratic strategy and the broader 2024 election landscape.
