Comedian Tim Allen is absolutely fearless in his new plan for the return of “Last Man Standing” which was just picked up by Fox after ABC canceled it. Fans demanded it to brought back and Fox delivered, but that’s nothing compared to what Tim Allen has in mind! The show was ABC’s second most popular comedy and they threw it away with a bunch of bogus excuses that all boiled down to their distaste for conservative politics or the Allen being a fan of President Trump. Allen is now looking forward to the reboot on Fox and he intends to walk straight into the ever-brewing debate over g*n control in America. He’s going to tackle it head-on.

Closer Weekly is reporting that Allen is excited over the issue of g**s, and it seems he always has been. It’s one of his passions and he has parodied it on his shows many times over the years. “We have so much left in our tank. There were a lot of stories we hadn’t gotten to,” Allen told the outlet. And ‘g**s’ is one of those issues that Allen has a lot more to say about. Allen said, “We’re going to have to deal with that somehow.”

For six seasons, Allen played the conservative patriarch Mike Baxter, the father of three girls and a sporting goods store marketing executive. He describes his character as one that “owns a sporting-goods store that has firearms,” which means the series will have to weigh into the g*n debate to one degree or another. Tim Allen never shies away from topics like g**s, just as Mike Rowe doesn’t. Ironically, Rowe plays Allen’s younger brother in the series. Allen has been outspoken about his conservative politics, so it’s no surprise that a hot-button issue like g*n control would come up on his show.
Closer Weekly noted that “hot-button topics” have not hurt Roseanne’s ratings, so Allen may benefit from dealing with the topic head-on. And I’m sure he will. Rumors have been floating around that ABC wants to water down Roseanne’s politics in season two, but that won’t happen with “Last Man Standing.” And Fox will welcome those who come over to enjoy Tim Allen’s humor and straightforwardness once again.

As Country Living pointed out, there have been many different conversations about g*n control in pop culture, from Jason Aldean’s comments after the s******g at his Las Vegas concert, to Property Brothers star Johnathan Scott receiving backlash for his stance on g*n control, so it’ll be interesting to see how “Last Man Standing” addresses the issue.

Allen wasted no time blasting political correctness as he was out promoting the return of “Last Man Standing” to television. “We’re gonna be very politically correct,” Allen told a reporter, his tongue pressed firmly in cheek to plenty of laughter. “I’m going to identify as an Asian woman that wants to be a European man … we’ll do the journey of what it’s like to be an Asian woman in a European man’s body … I eat a lot of Ramen. It’ll be a lot of Asian dishes. It’ll be subtle.” What did you expect from Tim Allen?
“I don’t want to be PC,” Allen said. “For all of us in the stand-up world, all of us are seeing this and feeling this, and it’s a little dangerous and uncomfortable that there [are] things you can’t say because they might hurt people’s feelings.” Allen also disagreed with a culture that’s “all of sudden” declared that “words matter.” “Words mean nothing,” he added. “It’s the intent behind the words. Lenny Bruce said it. Comics play with them all the time. We joke around about words … and in my gut, words don’t matter. The intent behind the word matters. I’m a wordsmith; we play with words all the time.” He said that it’s a “weird thing when I can’t say stuff [be]cause you don’t like what that means…”

He shared that his “Last Man Standing” character Mike Baxter “has a way …. of putting things into a very clear perspective” and likened him to “Archie Bunker that went to the University of Michigan.” “He’s got a very big sense of self, his opinions matter,” Allen noted about Baxter, adding that he’s also dealing with three daughters and a wife with “different points of view” and “he’s conflicted.” And incredibly funny.

“’Last Man Standing’ ended too soon and the outcry from the fans has been deafening,” Gary Newman and Dana Walden, chairmen and CEOs of Fox Television Group said. They also said the decision to bring back the series was a no-brainer. “We’ve wanted to put the show back together since its final taping a year ago, and Tim never gave up hope either. Thanks to its millions of devoted viewers and the irrepressible Tim Allen, we haven’t seen the last of ‘Last Man Standing.’”
