A Texas teen squared off with a police officer in a parking lot. The young man got more than he bargained for, and the video is going viral.

According to Blue lives Matter, a police officer in Texas was recorded on video gloving up for a sparring match with a neighborhood kid as bystanders from the local community rooted for the teen. According to local news source CBSDFW, the incident took place after Officer Winston Bowen responded to a noise complaint at the Hillcrest apartments in Mesquite, Texas.

“They were having a little barbecue, they were playing some music, and there were some kids out there with some gloves,” said Officer Bowen. When the crowd saw Officer Bowen, they immediately turned down the loud music and then one teen challenged him to a boxing match.
Officer Bowen, who had been boxing since he was 13, accepted the invitation for a spontaneous boxing match and strapped on a spare set of gloves with help from one of the other teens. In the community, Bowen is often referred to as Blade, due to his resemblance to the vampire slaying movie character played by Wesley Snipes.

“Everybody loves him. They like him. When he pulls up, they’re like, ‘Aw, there’s Officer Blade’,” said 18-year-old De’Ovion Tutt who was present when Bowen and the teen exchanged jabs. The moment Officer Bowen demonstrated his boxing ability, the crowd went wild with approval.
As the clip begins, Officer Bowen could be seen squaring off with his opponent after lacing up his gloves. The teen challenger was standing about ten feet away with an enormous grin on his face as he waited for the officer to engage him. As the crowd hooted and hollered, one person shouted, “You better win, that’s all I can say,” someone in the crowd hollered.

The teen looked at the crowd and nodded in acknowledgment before he put his arms up in the air like a champion. Three of the teen’s friends could be seen standing up on the trunk of a car as they filmed the match and cheered for their friend. The bout began with Officer Bowen landing several blows on the teen challenger within just a few seconds. “He’s a bad mother**ker. A bad mother**ker,” one bystander yelled with appreciation as Officer Bowen made quick work of his friend.

After landing several blows on his opponent, Officer Bowen sent the teen’s sweat rag flying off at the same time that his radio was knocked out of place. “Aight, aight, aight!!!” one bystander yelled to signal the end of the match.
Officer Bowen and the teen heartily congratulated each other with fist bumps as the crowd praised both of them. It was pretty obvious from the looks on their faces that several of the boys who were watching highly admired Officer Bowen. What a great way to prove wrong all of the cop-haters in our country.
Following the impromptu match, Officer Bowen was interviewed by a reporter. “We hugged, I mean, physically hugged,” he said of his opponent. The officer expressed his passion for reaching out to kids in the community as he’s done with enthusiasm for the last 14 years. “Years ago I made that decision, I’ve got to step in there and I’ve got to make a difference,” he said.

What an outstanding individual Officer Bowen truly is. He could show up to work and put in his time keeping the peace which the community would be very thankful for, but Officer Bowen takes his commitment up to a whole new level. It’s phenomenal to see an officer engaging teens with such a positive impact. In my opinion, Officer Bowen represents the very best of our law enforcement community and at the same time gives all the cop-hating liberals out there a good reason to shut-up.
