The survey indicates a bipartisan apprehension regarding the erosion of America’s democratic foundations and the potential for partisan actors to impose policies contrary to popular will.
Significantly, 65% of respondents, transcending party lines, expressed worry about the prospect of state legislatures overturning electoral outcomes to favor specific presidential candidates. Furthermore, both Republicans and Democrats voiced fears over governments enacting laws that lack broad public support.
The poll also highlighted that approximately 40% of Republicans and Democrats view the opposing party as an immediate national threat.
