GRAND RAPIDS, MICHIGAN – Brandon Jacob Cochran, 26, formerly from Portage, Michigan, was sentenced to 25 years in federal prison for producing child pornography, U.S. Attorney Andrew Birge announced today. In addition to the prison term, U.S. District Judge Janet T. Neff imposed a 10-year term of supervised release that will commence once Cochran is released from imprisonment. Cochran will also be required to register as a sexual offender.

Cochran pled guilty on February 5, 2018. He admitted that he had molested and digitally penetrated a three-year-old child, and he had used his cellphone to photograph the abuse. In its sentencing memorandum, the U.S. Attorney’s Office argued in favor of a lengthy sentence, emphasizing that the victim in this case was only three years old and particularly vulnerable to Cochran’s predation.

Moreover, Cochran had a history of sexually abusive conduct, and he had amassed a sizable collection of child pornography in addition to the images he created. The government argued that a lengthy sentence was needed both to protect the public and “to reflect the gravity and seriousness of the defendant’s crimes, to promote respect for the law, and to justly punish the defendant.”

This case is part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative designed to protect children from online exploitation and abuse. The U.S. Attorney’s Office, county prosecutor’s offices, the Internet Crimes Against Children task force (ICAC), federal, state, and local law enforcement are working closely together to locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who exploit children.

The partners in Project Safe Childhood work to educate local communities about the dangers of online child exploitation, and to teach children how to protect themselves. For more information about Project Safe Childhood, please visit the following web site: www.projectsafechildhood.gov. Individuals with information or concerns about possible child exploitation should contact local law enforcement officials.

The Detroit and Cleveland Divisions of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Portage Police Department, and Michigan State Police investigated the case. Assistant U.S. Attorney Sean M. Lewis prosecuted the case.

President Trump just posed a question that if proven true, could severely damage both the FBI and DOJ.

Trump’s rallying call is a culmination of a week’s worth of Republican furor about a possible effort to spy on Trump’s 2016 campaign, which could favor his Democratic challenger, Hillary Clinton.

Two reports published Friday evening, one by the New York Times and the other by the Washington Post, describe the informant in question as an American academic who teaches in the United Kingdom and met with up to three members of the Trump campaign to look into their ties to Russia. These include campaign advisers Carter Page, who was surveilled by the government via FISA warrants, and George Papadopoulos, who pleaded guilty last year to lying to the FBI and agreed to cooperate with special counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia investigation.

The FBI reportedly launched its investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election after it got word that Papadopoulos learned that the Russians obtained thousands of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s emails months before WikiLeaks published them.

Both the Times and the Post said they identified the informant, but declined to identify the person heeding concerns of national security officials that the individual’s life and the lives his his or her sources would be placed in danger.
Earlier in the week, Trump questioned the footing on which the Russia investigation stands, saying if the FBI representative was found to have been planted for political purposes, it could be the “all time biggest political scandal.”

Republicans in Congress have tried to zero in on possible misbehavior at the Justice Department, led in large part by House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes, R-Calif., and Senate Judiciary Chairman Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa.

Nunes subpoenaed the Justice Department for documents concerning an American who was a confidential intelligence source for Mueller’s investigation. The subpoena came after the agency did not reply to a letter asking for details on Mueller’s probe.
But the DOJ — backed by the White House — did not provide the documents, informing Nunes earlier this month that providing the information would threaten the life of the source and jeopardize national security. Instead he got a briefing with government officials, along with Rep. Trey Gowdy, R-S.C., the chairman of the House Oversight Committee.

Trump now appears to have changed his mind on the matter, as his lawyer Rudy Giuliani suggested earlier this week.

Though Nunes and Gowdy said they had a “productive” meeting and looked forward to future discussions, Nunes did not respond to an invitation from the DOJ to “answer questions he posed last week” in a follow-up meeting Friday, an agency spokesperson told the Washington Examiner.

Meanwhile Grassley’s committee has pressed DOJ for documents related to two FBI employees who demonstrated in text messages that were recovered a bias against Trump during the election.

Democrats have fought back against what they fear might be a political ploy by their Republican counterparts to undermine Mueller’s investigation, which not only is looking into Russian interference in the 2016 election, but also possible collusion between the Trump camp and the Kremlin.

“It would be at best irresponsible, and at worst potentially illegal, for members of Congress to use their positions to learn the identity of an FBI source for the purpose of undermining the ongoing investigation into Russian interference in our election,” Sen. Mark Warner, the top Democrat on the Senate Intelligence Committee, said in a statement.

Warner was backed up by Senate Minority Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., on Saturday, also warning that certain Republicans might be getting close to crossing a legal line.

Oh Oh, now the liberal left will become really unhinged. Well, at least more than usual.

Since the wimpy Republicans in Congress wouldn’t do it, on Friday the Trump administration moved forward with a proposal that would effectively ban Planned Parenthood and such organizations from providing abortion and related services under the same roof as operations funded by federal family-planning grants.

The already established Hyde amendment actually bans the use of competitive federal family-planning grant funds for abortion. But until now organizations such as Planned Parenthood have traditionally used the federal money for other health services while using private money for abortions and related services at the same facilities and with the same staff.

So basically what President Trump wants to do here is stop federally funding abortion altogether. And why not? Why does the already overburdened American Taxpayer have to pay for people who forgot, or aren’t even responsible enough to use birth control?
Of course, the left has already started with the “basic women’s rights” argument, but honestly, is k*****g an unborn baby a right? And don’t you liberals dare start with the whole “what if it was because of r**e” argument. You guys know very well that only represents a tiny minuscule number of pregnancies.

When exactly did “women’s health” turn into the idea that us taxpayers need to fund the k*****g of unborn babies? There is no reason whatsoever for us to have to fund this. there are countless celebrities who have money to burn on the left who can use their money to fund abortion on demand. Or even George Soros who has no problem throwing away any amount of money if it goes against anything the right stands for.

Here is more on this story via The Weekly Standard:

“The executive action is based on a 1988 Reagan regulation, but can’t eliminate most of Planned Parenthood’s federal funding.

On Friday, the Trump administration will announce a proposed rule to cut taxpayer funding to abortionists like Planned Parenthood under Title X, a program that provides $260 million annually in federal funding for contraception and other “family planning” initiatives.

“The proposal would require a bright line of physical as well as financial separation between Title X programs and any program (or facility) where abortion is performed, supported, or referred for as a method of family planning,” a Trump administration official tells THE WEEKLY STANDARD in an email.

The 1970 law establishing Title X states: “None of the funds appropriated under this title shall be used in programs where abortion is a method of family planning.” But in the 1970s and 1980s, the law was interpreted to allow Title X programs to refer patients for abortions, be co-located with abortion clinics, and lobby for pro-abortion policies—so long as federal dollars did not directly fund abortions. In 1988, President Reagan’s secretary of Health and Human Services issued regulations to end these practices that blurred the line between funding contraception and promoting abortion.
The 1988 Reagan regulation was immediately challenged in court and never enforced, but it was upheld by the Supreme Court in a 5-4 decision in the case Rust v. Sullivan. By the time abortionists might have actually lost their Title X funds, however, Bill Clinton took office and k****d the Reagan regulation, a policy that has remained in effect to this day. This anti-abortion regulation wasn’t reinstated by the George W. Bush administration.

“Unlike the Reagan regulation, the proposal will not prohibit counseling for clients about abortion, but neither will it include the current, potentially illegal mandate that projects must counsel and refer for abortion,” a Trump administration official tells TWS. “This proposal does not necessarily defund Planned Parenthood, as long as they’re willing to disentangle taxpayer funds from abortion as a method of family planning, which is required by the Title X law. Any grantees that perform, support, or refer for abortion have a choice – disentangle themselves from abortion or fund their activities with privately raised funds.”

Although the royal wedding seems like a great way to burn through $43 million dollars of British taxpayer money at least Prince Harry did something that was good with that huge gift.

Losing a parent is something that can devastate a person of any age, and it couldn’t have been easy for Prince Harry when he lost what is possibly the last royal family member who ever had the respect of the entire world. Diana Princess of Wales. He was only 12 then.
But 20 years after his mother Diana was k****d in a tragic car accident as her driver was trying to evade the constant cameras Prince Harry decided to honor his mother in a way that not many in this world could ever dream of being able to do for their own mothers.

Princess Diana was there in spirit throughout the whole engagement and her son and daughter-in-law made sure to include her memory every step of the way. At the wedding ceremony, the couple left a seat open for her. If she had been alive, that’s where she would have sat to watch her youngest son exchange wedding vows.

Even the engagement ring, Prince Harry gave Meghan Markle used two diamonds from his mother’s personal collection and Markle’s classic bouquet of flowers had some of Diana’s favorite flowers, forget-me-nots, which Harry picked himself the day before the wedding. They also involve Lady Jane Fellowes, Princess Diana’s sister, in the ceremony. Where they had her read from Song of Solomon at St. George’s Chapel.

And last but not least Markle did what both Princess Diana and Kate Middleton did to their vows. they all omitted the word “Obey.”

It’s nice to see all these tributes to a woman who was not only a great mother to both her sons, but who was so important to a world that so needed her.

Here is more on Princess Diana via Biography:

“Princess Diana was Princess of Wales while married to Prince Charles. One of the most adored members of the British royal family, she died in a 1997 car crash.
Who Was Princess Diana?

Born Diana Spencer on July 1, 1961, Princess Diana became Lady Diana Spencer after her father inherited the title of Earl Spencer in 1975. She married the heir to the British throne, Prince Charles, on July 29, 1981. They had two sons and later divorced in 1996. Diana died on August 31, 1997, from injuries she sustained in a car crash in Paris. She is remembered as the “People’s Princess” because of her widespread popularity and global humanitarian efforts.
British royalty Princess Diana Spencer was born on July 1, 1961, near Sandringham, England. Diana, Princess of Wales, was one of the most adored members of the British royal family. She was the daughter of Edward John Spencer, Viscount Althorp, and Frances Ruth Burke Roche, Viscountess Althorp (later known as the Honorable Frances Shand Kydd). Her parents divorced when Diana was young, and her father won custody of the children. Following her initial education at home, Diana attended Riddlesworth Hall School and then West Heath School.

She became Lady Diana Spencer after her father inherited the title of Earl Spencer in 1975. Although she was known for her shyness while growing up, she did show an interest in music and dancing. Diana also had a great fondness for children. After attending finishing school at Institut Alpin Videmanette in Switzerland, she moved to London. She began working with children, eventually becoming an assistant at Young England Kindergarten.

Marriage to Prince Charles
Diana was no stranger to the British royal family, having reportedly played with Prince Andrew and Prince Edward as a child while her family rented Park House, an estate owned by Queen Elizabeth II. In 1977, she became reacquainted with their older brother, Prince Charles, who was 13 years her senior.

As the heir to the British throne, Prince Charles was usually the subject of media attention, and his courtship of Diana was no exception. The press and the public were fascinated by this seemingly odd couple—the reserved, garden-loving prince and the shy young woman with an interest in fashion and popular culture. When the couple married on July 29, 1981, the ceremony was broadcast on television around the world, with millions of people tuning in to see what many considered to be the wedding of the century.
