Disgraced former FBI Director James Comey would never “confirm or deny” if the agency was investigating the Clinton Foundation.

But that’s all been laid to rest now, thanks to the IG Report.
The report does indeed confirm that the FBI was investigating the sketchy foundation.

While Katie wrote up the scathing IG report that cited the many times former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe lied under oath to investigators and the DOJ inspector general about the bureau’s investigations into Hillary Clinton, it also re-confirmed something that fell by the wayside in recent months. That the FBI was indeed investigating the Clinton Foundation, something that then-FBI Director James Comey refused to confirm or deny. It also detailed the fallout from the leaks to The Wall Street Journal, which reported on the friction between the DOJ and FBI over the Clinton Foundation probe:

The Clinton Foundation Investigation

As detailed below, the disclosures by Special Counsel to the WSJ on October 27 and 28 included statements effectively confirming the existence of the CF Investigation. Prior to October 27 and 28, the FBI had not publicly confirmed the existence of the CF Investigation, or issued any statements to the media discussing the details of that investigation.

B. Events Leading to the October 30 Article and its Aftermath

1. Comey Refuses To Confirm the Existence of the CF Investigation (July 7) or Other Investigations (September 28)

In testimony before the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee on July 7, 2016, FBI Director Comey refused to answer questions about whether the FBI was investigating the Clinton Foundation. Comey stated that he was “not going to comment on the existence or nonexistence” of the CF Investigation. Similarly, in testimony before the House Judiciary Committee on September 28, 2016, Comey refused to confirm or deny two different investigations during an FBI oversight hearing. He stated: “our standard is we do not confirm or deny the existence of investigations.”

2. McCabe–PADAG Call on the CF Investigation (August 12)

McCabe told the OIG that on August 12, 2016, he received a telephone call from PADAG [Principle associate deputy attorney general] regarding the FBI’s handling of the CF Investigation (the “PADAG call”). McCabe said that PADAG expressed concerns about FBI agents taking overt steps in the CF Investigation during the presidential campaign. According to McCabe, he pushed back, asking “are you telling me that I need to shut down a validly predicated investigation?” McCabe told us that the conversation was “very dramatic” and he never had a similar confrontation like the PADAG call with a high- level Department official in his entire FBI career.
3. The October 23 WSJ Article and Aftermath

On October 23, 2016, the WSJ published online an article by reporter Devlin Barrett stating that a political-action committee (PAC) run by Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe and the Virginia Democratic Party (over which the article reported McAuliffe “exerts considerable control”) collectively donated nearly $675,000 to the 2015 unsuccessful state senate campaign of the wife of Andrew McCabe.1 The article described McAuliffe as “an influential Democrat with long-standing ties to Bill and Hillary Clinton” and noted that McCabe was an FBI official “who later helped oversee the investigation into Mrs. Clinton’s email use.” The article contained an official FBI statement that McCabe “played no role” in his wife’s 2015 state senate campaign and was promoted to FBI Deputy Director months after his wife’s defeat “where, . . . he assumed for the first time, an oversight role in the investigation into Secretary Clinton’s emails.” According to the article, FBI officials stated that McCabe’s supervision of the Clinton E-mail case in 2016 did not present a conflict or ethics issues because his wife’s campaign was over by then. The article went on to note that when the Clinton E-mail Investigation was launched in July 2015, Mr. McCabe was “running the FBI’s Washington, D.C., field office, which provided personnel and resources to the Clinton email probe.”

Newly discovered text messages between the FBI lovebirds Peter Strzok and Lisa Page may now be pointing to the fact that high ranking FBI officials, CIA officials, Justice Department officials, and Senate leadership did, in fact, coordinate with the Obama White House. This systematic coordination started during the initial investigation of the fake Russian / Trump campaign collusion. It was brought up by the Hillary Clinton Campaign when they paid for a fake opposition research dossier on then-candidate Donald Trump.

The investigators in this case said late yesterday that the information provided to Fox News “strongly” suggests coordination between former President Barack Obama’s Chief of Staff Denis McDonough, then-Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid, and CIA Director John Brennan which they say would directly “contradict” the official Obama administration’s public stance about its hand in the process.

More on these new finding via Fox News:

“Page texted Strzok on Aug. 2, 2016, saying: “Make sure you can lawfully protect what you sign. Just thinking about congress, foia, etc. You probably know better than me.”
A text message from Strzok to Page on Aug. 3 described former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe as being concerned with “information control” related to the initial investigation into the Trump campaign. According to a report from the New York Times, Brennan was sent to Capitol Hill around the same time to brief members of Congress on the possibility of election interference.

Days later, on Aug. 8, 2016, Strzok texted Page: “Internal joint cyber cd intel piece for D, scenesetter for McDonough brief, Trainor [head of FBI cyber division] directed all cyber info be pulled. I’d let Bill and Jim hammer it out first, though it would be best for D to have it before the Wed WH session.”

In the texts, “D” referred to FBI Director James Comey, and and “McDonough” referred to Chief of Staff Denis McDonough, the GOP investigators said.

“We are not making conclusions. What we are saying is that the timeline is concerning enough to warrant the appointment of an independent investigator to look at whether or not the Obama White House was involved [in the Trump-Russia investigation],” a GOP congressional source told Fox News.

An FBI spokesman did not immediately respond to Fox News’ request for comment.
The congressional investigators pointed out to Fox News that the CIA and FBI are supposed to be “independent agencies,” and noted that “coordination between political actors at the White House and investigators would be inappropriate,” raising questions about the level of involvement of Obama White House officials.

But weeks later, on August 25, 2016, Brennan went to Capitol Hill to brief Harry Reid — and it was unclear whether FBI officials attended the briefing, a congressional source told Fox News.

Two days after the briefing, Reid penned a letter to Comey requesting an investigation into potential collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia.

“The evidence of a direct connection between the Russian government and Donald Trump’s presidential campaign continues to mount and has led Michael Morrell, the former Acting Central Intelligence Director, to call Trump an ‘unwitting agent’ of Russia and the Kremlin,” Reid, a Nevada Democrat, wrote. “The prospect of a hostile government actively seeking to undermine our free and fair elections represents one of the gravest threats to our democracy since the Cold War and it is critical for the Federal Bureau of Investigation to use every resource available to investigate this matter thoroughly and in a timely fashion.”

Reid cited reports in his letter, noting “methods” Russia was using to influence the Trump campaign and “manipulate it as a vehicle for advancing the interests of Russian President Vladimir Putin.”

Reid added that “recent staff changes within the Trump campaign have made clear that the Trump campaign has employed a number of individuals with significant and disturbing ties to Russia and the Kremlin,” urging Comey to make the investigation “public.”

The following day, Aug. 30, 2016, Strzok texted Page: “Here we go,” sending a link to the Times report titled, “Harry Reid Cites Evidence of Russian Tampering in U.S. Vote and seeks FBI inquiry.”

Strzok replied: “D [Comey] said at am brief that Reid called him and told him he would be sending a letter.”

Congressional investigators suggested that the Reid letter possibly provided “cover” for the fact that the FBI and Justice Department had already begun investigating the Trump campaign in mid-July on what they called “questionable ethical and legal grounds.”

James Comey has hit the trail to plug his tell-all book, that Chris Wallace of Fox News called “bitchy.”

It’s placed him back in the spotlight, and with that comes a lot of heat.
As a matter of fact, GOP House Intel officials Devin Nunes, Trey Gowdy and Bob Goodlatte are zeroing in on Comey, and DEMANDING copies of his “memos.”

Republican chairmen of three House committees are demanding the Justice Department provide copies of memos James Comey wrote following his interactions with President Donald Trump when he served as FBI director.

“There is no legal basis for withholding these materials from Congress,” according to a letter from Virginia Rep. Bob Goodlatte, South Carolina Rep. Trey Gowdy, and California Rep. Devin Nunes sent to Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein on Friday.

“The Committees request the Department of Justice make copies of the Comey memos available immediately,” continues the letter, which sets Monday as the deadline to produce the memos.

Comey is said to have written seven memos following his meetings and conversations with Trump. Trump asked Comey to express his loyalty, the former FBI direct claimed in some of the memos. In another, Trump asked Comey to back off of an investigation of former national security adviser Michael Flynn.

After Trump fired Comey on May 9, 2017, the former director leaked some of the memos to his friend, Columbia Law School Professor Daniel Richman. Comey instructed Richman to share the records with The New York Times, the former director testified on June 8, 2017. One of his goals was to force the appointment of a special counsel to take over the Russia investigation, he testified. The strategy was a success. On May 17, 2017, Rosenstein appointed Comey’s predecessor, Robert Mueller, to oversee the probe.

Congressional Republicans have sought to find out whether any of the memos Comey gave to Richman contained classified information.

According to Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley, four of Comey’s memos contained classified information. Richman received four documents from Comey, the professor said, according to Fox News. Simple arithmetic holds at least one of the memos given to Richman would contain classified information, Grassley noted.

In their letter to Rosenstein, the three committee chairman asked for unredacted copies of all unclassified memos. They requested any memos containing classified information be provided in unredacted form as well as in declassified form, with “appropriate” redactions.
The request comes just as Comey is poised to release a book about his career in the FBI and Justice Department. Comey heavily criticizes Trump, comparing him to a mob boss, advanced leaks of the book show.

South Carolina Republican Senator Tim Scott just made a shocking admission about a private moment that he had with President Donald Trump in the Oval Office. Liberals are stunned b what he had to say, which was captured on video.

Even before President Donald Trump took office, liberals have gone out of their way to paint him as a racist and a bigot. Everyone from Democrats to the mainstream media has continually tried to portray our President as a closed-minded buffoon and as someone who isn’t sensitive to the rocky history of race relations in our country. However, after they see a CNN interview with Senator Scott (R-SC), they won’t have a leg to stand on.

According to Daily Caller, during the interview with CNN host Alisyn Camerota, Scott shared the set with Congressman Trey Gowdy (R-SC) and relayed a very specific encounter that he had with President Donald Trump. Liberals weren’t ready to hear about this.

“I tell you the truth, I go back to a specific incident in the Charlottesville situation, where I had some very harsh comments about the president. And, I was very candid about my displeasure and how I found some of his comments to be indefensible. He invited me into the Oval Office after my criticism, and I found something quite surprising happening in the Oval Office,” Sen. Scott recounted.
“He said, ‘We’re not on the same page on the history of race relations in this country. Help me find the way forward.’ So, I started talking about legislative remedies that would help poor kids from poor communities, like the ones I grew up in,” Scott continued. According to Newsmax, Scott credits that conversation with Trump as what eventually led to the bipartisan passage of new legislation.

“And, he said that he was interested in the legislation. Long story short, he supported the legislation, and now, Cory Booker and myself, Chris Coons, and other Democrats, along with Republicans on the finance committee got that bill passed into law, and every state is now looking at ways to create opportunities,” Scott explained.

“Yes, the rhetoric cannot be helpful, it can be indefensible at times, but the challenge I laid on the president’s desk was to help me find a path forward, and legislatively you had to concede that that legislation, as well as now record low unemployment in communities of color, are helpful targets from a public policy standpoint,” Scott continued. “But, we still have to wrestle with the rhetoric that can sometimes be hurtful.”
Obviously caught off guard by Scott’s candid and unexpected story about Trump, Camerota simply said, “I think that’s a really valuable story.”

It’s never easy for liberals to give Trump credit for being open-minded or even to admit that he isn’t filled with contempt for people of color.
