White House press secretary Sarah Sanders told reporters on Friday that the approximately 4,000 U.S. National Guard members the Trump administration seeks to send to the border is just “a good start.”

“It’s going to be as many as it takes,” Sanders told reporters when asked about the 4,000.

Secretary of Homeland Security Kirstjen Nielsen made the announcement on Wednesday that the administration would send National Guard troops to the border in coordination with border state governors. Nielsen indicated that troops would be deployed immediately. President Donald Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One on Thursday that he was looking to send 2,000 to 4,000 troops to the border.

Nielsen compared the deployment to President George W. Bush’s Operation Jump Start, which mobilized up to 6,000 National Guard troops to the border. The operation was initiated in May 2006 and lasted about two years. President Barack Obama launched Operation Phalanx in 2010, sending up to 1,200 National Guard troops to the southern border. Phalanx was a successor operation to Jump Start.
Reporters inquired during Friday’s press conference whether the administration received support from all four border state governors, if troops would still be deployed if California chose not to cooperate, and what was holding California up.

Sanders said they would “absolutely” move forward with deployments to Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona – regardless of whether California participates.

“A couple days ago, the DHS Secretary was saying that it could happen as early as that night,” Sanders clarified on the timing of troop deployment to the southern border, adding that the administration hopes to “have National Guard on the ground as soon as possible.”

“We’re going to continue to work with California, and we’re hopeful that they’ll do the right thing and help protect our borders,” she added.

There wasn’t a definitive time for deployment as of Friday’s press conference.

Asked about the 4,000, Sanders said it would be as many troops “as it takes,” and that the administration is “looking at what that needs to be.”

Sanders concluded, “The President thinks that’s a good first step, to have 2,000 to 4,000. And if we determine that we need more, we’ll make that decision at the time.”

BREAKING News Out Of The FBI… TRUMP IS PISSED OFF!!!

President Trump on Saturday slammed the Justice Department for failing to meet a deadline to turn over documents related to the FBI’s decisions in the Hillary Clinton email probe, alleged abuses of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) and the recommendation to fire former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe, Fox News reports.

Trump tweeted:

“Lawmakers of the House Judiciary Committee are angrily accusing the Department of Justice of missing the Thursday Deadline for turning over UNREDACTED Documents relating to FISA abuse, FBI, Comey, Lynch, McCabe, Clinton Emails and much more. Slow walking – what is going on? BAD!”
“What does the Department of Justice and FBI have to hide? Why aren’t they giving the strongly requested documents (unredacted) to the HOUSE JUDICIARY COMMITTEE? Stalling, but for what reason?” he added in a second tweet. “Not looking good!

A Republican House Judiciary Committee aide told Fox News on Thursday that the DOJ had “not yet complied” with a March 22 subpoena issued by the committee’s chairman, Rep. Bob Goodlatte, R-Va.

The deadline for the subpoena issued by Chairman Goodlatte was today at noon. We got no documents from the Department of Justice. Just a phone call.

This is unacceptable–it’s time to stop the games. Turn over the documents to Congress and allow us to conduct oversight.”
The committee aide added that the panel was “working with officials at DOJ to take immediate steps to comply with the subpoena and produce documents to the Committee.”

This coming week, the DOJ will produce another 1,000 pages of documents responsive to the subpoena, department officials told Fox News on Saturday.

Goodlatte had requested documents related to the Clinton email investigation and said that only a “fraction” of those documents had been produced, with “no documents” provided related to the request on potential FISA abuses.

He said he’d received only “a few thousand” of the 1.2 million documents he had requested in that investigation. However, on “Fox & Friends” last week, Goodlatte noted that Attorney General Jeff Sessions had taken a “hands-on approach” and that FBI Director Christopher Wray doubled the amount of employees working to comply with the subpoena.

Oregon Gov to Trump I Refuse to Send National Guard Troops to Mexican Border

The governor of Oregon announced Wednesday that she would refuse any attempt from President Trump to send National Guard troops to protect the Mexican border after the president announced his intention to beef up border patrol operations.

“If @realDonaldTrump asks me to deploy Oregon Guard troops to the Mexico border, I’ll say no. As Commander of Oregon’s Guard, I’m deeply troubled by Trump’s plan to militarize our border,” Brown tweeted Wednesday.

“There’s been no outreach by the President or federal officials,” she added, insisting that she has “no intention of allowing Oregon’s guard troops to be used to distract from his troubles in Washington.”

Trump signed a proclamation Wednesday directing Defense Secretary James Mattis to “request use of National Guard personnel to assist” with the Department of Homeland Security Department’s existing efforts to secure the border.
The president is allowed to call on National Guard units under two different laws passed by Congress in 1956.

Under U.S. Code Title 10, Trump could “federalize” the Guard, ordering federally-funded National Guard troops under the Defense Secretary’s control to report for “active duty.”

But Trump invoked U.S. Code Title 32 in his proclamation, which directs state governors to order the Guard to report “for operational Homeland Defense” duties.

Under Title 32, state governors can ignore or refuse the president’s order. While Brown has authority to deny Trump’s request under Title 32, the president can invoke his authority to send the National Guard to the Mexican border under other provisions.

Unlike Brown, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott welcomed Trump’s proclamation.

Abbott, whose state borders Mexico, announced Wednesday that Texas would comply with the National Guard order, adding that since he became governor, “Texas has maintained a continuous presence of National Guard members along the border.”

Oregon is more than 1,000 miles away from the U.S.-Mexico border, but the state has seen an unprecedented number of drug cartels operating in the state over the past few years. In 2015, federal authorities busted a drug trafficking operation that took place in Oregon, Texas, and California, and many of the defendants, in that case, were illegal aliens.

Germany’s Die Welt Proclaims Donald Trump ‘Most Successful Climate Protector in the World’

Germany’s Die Welt Proclaims Donald Trump ‘Most Successful Climate Protector in the World’

In a bizarre irony, the German daily newspaper Die Welt has proclaimed U.S. President Donald Trump “the most successful climate protector in the world” after a new global climate report revealed that U.S. carbon dioxide emissions dropped dramatically during Trump’s first year in office.

The International Energy Agency (IEA) released its “Global Energy and CO2 Status Report, 2017” on March 22, which contained the bombshell news that the “biggest drop in emissions came from the United States,” which made folks at Die Welt sit up and take notice.

Global energy-related carbon dioxide emissions increased overall by 1.4 percent in 2017, the report revealed, and in most major economies, carbon dioxide emissions increased as well.

The United States led the small pack of countries that managed to lower greenhouse gas emissions, accompanied by UK, Japan, and Mexico. According to IEA figures, the United States managed to reduce CO2 emissions in 2017 by 0.5 percent, or 25 million tons, to 4810 million tons.

President Trump has been in the climate-change doghouse ever since he announced the withdrawal of the United States from the Paris Climate Accord, something Minority Leader Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) defined as a “dishonor” to God.

As Breitbart News reported at the time, because of his decision, the president was accused of waging a “war on the environment” tantamount to genocide. Several journals and news outlets even went so far as to suggest that Mr. Trump was guilty of “environmental racism” by pulling the United States out of the climate agreement.

Essence magazine said Trump had continued “his war on people of color in America” while Blavity, a website that caters to people of color, said that Trump’s decision “will worsen environmental racism,” insisting that climate change is “inherently a black issue and not just a ‘human issue.’”
The Atlantic suggested that environmental racism is “the new Jim Crow,” referring to laws that segregated blacks and whites in their use of public schools, public places, transportation, restrooms, and restaurants.

Enter Daniel Wetzel, energy journalist for Die Welt, a self-described “liberal cosmopolitan” German newspaper.

Mr. Wetzel doffed his hat to President Trump, saying that despite being stigmatized as an enemy of the environment, he has shown himself to be quite the contrary. Wetzel contrasted the positive U.S. results with those of China, which signed on to the Paris Climate Accord. While U.S. emissions dropped, China’s grew by nearly a full percentage point in 2017.

Curiously, some of the countries that chastised the United States for dropping out of the Paris Accord performed far worse than the U.S. during 2017, with the European Union (EU) emissions rising by a stunning 46 million tons. Germany itself has not reduced its emissions for nine years in a row.

The decline in U.S. carbon emissions was due to a number of factors, the study found, including growth in the use of renewables, the liberalization of fracking with the consequent increase in clean-burning natural gas, and America’s continued high use of clean nuclear energy, which supplies about 20 percent of U.S. energy needs.

As Breitbart News reported last summer, air pollution in the U.S. is among the lowest on the planet, according to studies by the World Health Organization (WHO),

In WHO’s 2017 report on air pollution, the United States was listed as one of the countries with the cleanest air in the world, significantly cleaner than the air in Germany, Italy, Switzerland, the UK, Japan, Austria, and France.
