This GOP Candidate is REFUSING to Apologize For Criticizing David Hogg

GOP Massachusetts House candidate, Ron Beaty, is refusing to apologize to David Hogg for his controversial insults, including calling the 17-year-old “an absolute idiot” and a “communist pig.”

Ron Beaty, who announced his state House run on Twitter, has been relentlessly attacking Hogg online over the shooting survivor’s gun control activism in the aftermath of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting that killed 17 people.

The Barnstable County commissioner has tweeted out polls asking if Hogg is a “fascist wannabe,” and he’s called Hogg “brainwashed,” a “socialist twit,” and a “communist pig,” among other incendiary insults, as The Hill reported.
He’s also shared a picture of Hogg doctored to compare him to Adolf Hitler, a popular meme by members of the far-right.

And while other members of the right have apologized for their attacks on Hogg, including Fox News’ Laura Ingraham, Beaty says he won’t apologize for any of his attacks, instead urging the young gun control activist to apologize to Ingraham, whose show has lost numerous sponsors after she mocked Hogg for being rejected by several colleges.

“Apologize? There is no reason to do so. I stand by my various statements and survey inquiries,” Beaty told IJR, adding that the current backlash regarding his comments from “ultra-liberal Democrats and their fanatical anti-Trump, anti-Second Amendment disciples” was not unexpected.
Beaty added that he’s “not concerned … one way or the other” about any negative impact on his candidacy, similar to what’s happened to Ingraham, coming as a result of his controversial comments.

Ingraham took a week off after Hogg organized a successful ad boycott of her program following a critical tweet posted by the conservative host. However, Fox News issued a supportive comment amid the massive advertiser pull-out.

“We cannot and will not allow voices to be censored by agenda-driven intimidation efforts,” Fox News president Jack Abernathy said in a statement. “We look forward to having Laura Ingraham back hosting her program next Monday when she returns from spring vacation with her children.”

BREAKING Bus Crash Carrying Hockey Players…. MULTIPLE FATALITIES

Fourteen people were killed Friday when the bus they were in — carrying the Humboldt Broncos junior hockey team — collided with a semi-truck while traveling to a playoff game.

At least 14 others on the bus were injured, three of them critically, the Saskatoon Star Phoenix reported.

Most of those killed were likely the hockey players, who were between 16 and 21 years old — though the Royal Canadian Mounted Police [RCMP] would not specify how many of the fatalities were players.

“We can now confirm fourteen people have died as a result of this collision,” the RCMP said in a statement. “The other fourteen people were sent to hospital with a variety of injuries; three of these people have injuries that are critical in nature. We are not confirming the identity of the victims at this time, including whether the deceased are players or coaches. We will be working with our partner agencies to ensure families are notified as soon as possible and the appropriate supports are provided to families and others who are impacted by this extremely tragic incident.”
The father of player Derek Patter, who survived the crash, shared an image of his son and two other players in the hospital.
“We are just in utter disbelief and shock at the loss that’s fallen upon us,” Kevin Garinger, president of the Humboldt Broncos team, told CBC. He said he first learned of the accident through a phone call from a fan.

“Our organization will never be the same,” Garinger told the Saskatoon newspaper.

Police said overnight that the bus had been carrying 28 occupants, including the driver. It was unclear whether the truck driver was among the fatalities, Fox News reports.

Authorities said the crash occurred on Highway 35 in Tisdale, Saskatchewan, about 5 p.m. local time. The town is about 1,300 miles from San Francisco.

“It’s disbelief. It’s shock. The deepest grief that you can ever imagine,” a stunned Kevin Garinger said late Friday night, while driving home to Humboldt from Swift Current.

Garinger is the president of the Humboldt Broncos as well as the local school division’s director of education. He said he was in shock, and struggling to make sense of a terrible tragedy.

“Our organization will never be the same,” Garinger said of the hockey club he loves, one he said aspired to make not only good hockey players but also good young men as well.

“Our thoughts and prayers — everything we have in terms of our energy is directed toward trying to deal with, cope with the loss that’s occurred here,” he said.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau tweeted that he couldn’t imagine what the parents were going through, “and my heart goes out to everyone affected by this terrible tragedy, in the Humboldt community and beyond.”

Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe tweeted that there were no words to describe the loss.

“Words can not describe the loss that we feel tonight. The news I have heard is difficult to comprehend.

Our province has always been one community. At our core, we are one small town, neighbors, friends and families.

To the City of Humboldt, the entire Broncos organization, and the families impacted by this tragedy, please know you are in Saskatchewan’s hearts.

From a grieving province, thank you to every one of the first responders and medical professionals for your courageous response under the most difficult circumstances imaginable.

Tonight, we all must pray for these families.”

The Nipawin Apostolic Church was serving as gathering place for families to receive more information as it became available, the RCMP said.

“We just opened our building here with food and drinks … they can come if they need somewhere to go or someone to talk to,” Nipawin Apostolic Church Pastor Jordan Gadsby told the Star Phoenix. “There’s not a lot of confirmed information at this point. Families are just waiting to hear from their kids.

“There’s a lot of tears.”

What a horrific tragedy.

Now, this is truly a first for a Republican President in modern times.

One of the co-founders of the Black Entertainment Network, Robert Johnson took time on the Kudlow Show on Friday to praise President Trump for the current economic boom the U.S. is facing, while at the same time stressing that the GOP tax cuts are the main reason why the unemployment of Black America is at an all-time low.

“You’ve never seen African-American unemployment this low and the spread between African-Americans and whites narrowing,” Johnson said during a CNBC interview on Friday. In December, unemployment for blacks reached the lowest percentage (6.8%) in its recorded history.

“Business is very good,” Johnson said when asked about the economy by “Squawk Box” co-host Jor Kernen.

“I believe that if you take into account the Trump tax cut, you take into account the drop in unemployment and particularly unemployment for African-Americans, it’s the lowest it’s ever been in history. And you take into account the fact that interest rates are fairly stable, they will probably drift up, but so far,” he said.

“And I think the business community is committed to reinvest capital that they get from some of the tax advantages and that as a result of that, I think the economy is going to grow.”

He added:

“We’re about the 21st largest car dealership group in the country. People are still buying cars as interest rates are favorable,” the entrepreneur said of the business. “Hotels seem to be coming back, business travelers are going back on airplanes and traveling and staying in hotels. That works for us. And there’s still capital out there to raise in the private equity field,” he added.

Johnson explained that all of these policies, in total, have led to black unemployment dropping about 4-5 percentage points. “That’s a pretty good testament to the fact that there are a lot of jobs out there looking for people who are traditionally underemployed,” he said.
As noted by The Hill, “Johnson attended Harvard Business School with the president’s new senior economic adviser Larry Kudlow, a former CNBC contributor who was tapped by the president to replace Gary Cohn last month.”

“I’m glad he’s in D.C., I’m going to call and tell him, ‘Welcome to D.C.,’” he said of Kudlow.”

The 71-year-old Johnson became the first ever African American billionaire when he sold his BET network to Viacom. He currently owns the asset management firm based out of Maryland, RLJ Companies. Some of his companies also include car dealerships, which he stresses are selling a lot because of the current low-interest rates while at the same time adding that the hotel and travel area is also roaring back with a vengeance since people are traveling more because of the positive economic outlook.

“In the month of December, the unemployment rate for black Americans dropped to just 6.8 percent, which is the lowest ever recorded. Prior to this month, the previous record was 7.4 percent in 2000.
The government has been tracking unemployment by race for 45 years, since 1972.

The Hispanic unemployment rate remains at a near record low of just 4.9 percent, up just a bit from the record of 4.7 percent in November of last year.

White unemployment sits at 3.7 percent, while only 2.5 percent of Asians are unemployed.

The overall unemployment rate is just 4.1 percent.

The number of jobs created in December was 148,000, which is lower than expected. Jobs are the lagging indicator in any economy, so with all the other numbers moving up, hopefully job creation will soon follow.

Average hourly earnings rose 0.3% from the previous month, and are up 2.5% when compared to last year.

With unemployment so low, job growth should mean wage gains. More jobs than people looking for them puts employees in the driver’s seat. Also good news for workers is the Trump administration’s crackdown on illegal immigration. This can only mean better wages and more job opportunities, especially for unskilled, entry, and blue-collar workers — those who have been left behind more than any other group.”
Glad to see somebody finally admit it. I am sure Johnson will be called an “uncle tom” and a “traitor” by the African American community but it’s not easy to ignore the fact that the numbers don’t lie. Black America is doing better than ever before and business is coming back with a vengeance. And the fact that more and more businesses who went abroad decades ago are now heading back to set up shop in the U.S. is also a major plus.
