Days later, journalist Stephen Gardner reported a very different version from TPUSA insiders: the bullet crushed Kirk’s C2 vertebra and traveled down, destroying vertebrae C2 through C7 before lodging deep in muscle tissue between C7 and T1.Candace Owens later revealed that Dr. Trotter, an experienced hunter, actually suggested to both Kolvet and Erika Kirk during a three-way call that the round may have been frangible, a type designed to disintegrate on impact. This conflicted sharply with both the miracle stop and the catastrophic damage stories.The April 2026 ATF summary describes a 30-caliber deformed bullet jacket fragment and four lead fragments, consistent with a conventional jacketed rifle bullet rather than a sintered frangible round.
