Tennessee’s House just passed HB 793 — a groundbreaking bill requiring public schools to verify and report the immigration status of every K-12 student. This is the latest move in a direct challenge to the 1982 Supreme Court ruling in Plyler v. Doe, which has guaranteed free public education to undocumented children for over 40 years.
